What is the red key for?
you just said people thought it was for preludes, but begged to differ and said it was a type r key. you basically answered your own question. i haven't seen that key before though.

it is not the valet key...
afaik...only 1999 preludes (i owned one) came with that red key
i was told by the dealer that the red key, when used, would render the other keys useless

The red key is the "learning" key. On cars equipped with the old style immobilizer system, you can't reprogram the system without it. The new generation immobilizer is much better. As far as I know, 99 and up Integra's use the new gen system.
do not loose that key or else you will need a new imo.. computer. (preludes). if you use it you de-program the imo.. but that key still don't start the car.
i use to have one on my 94 teg, kinda looks cool, but no imo to ruin on my car so i could use it.
