did tranny swap now reverse makes noise..
I swapped my ls tranny for a gsr tranny two days ago with a ACT street/strip clutch assembly and a streetlite flywheel and it now makes a moderately loud noise when i reverse. the sound is the same as it did when i usually reverse but its louder, choppy, and it sort of vibrates throughout the whole car. 1st through gth gear is fine. when the gsr tranny was on the other car, it worked fine. could it be the axle because it has .5 - 1 cm gap still. I used regular motor oil for the tranny and i think that's all the info i have on it for now on what i did. help guys...

bing bing bing..i think we have a winner....they make TRANSMISSION FLUID for TRANSMISSIONS for a reason...flush it out and get some Honda MT fluid</TD></TR></TABLE>
Actually, the Honda service manual calls for 05w-30.

QUOTE=Honda Hick]No winner here bud. Honda's use 5 or 10w30. You can put auto tranny fluid in if you like fried synchros though

why would you put ATF in a manual tranny?[

omg what year manual are you using. i forget when but ever since honda came out wiht their MTF they reccommend that over conventional oil.
helms manual, page 13-3
"Always use genuine honda mTF. if it is not available, you may use and API service SG or SH grade motor oil with a viscosity of SAE 10 W-30 or 10 W-40 as a temporary replacement. Motor oil can cas increased transmission wear and higher shifting effort, so you should have the transmission drained and refilled with honda mtf as soon as possible"
so your running a GS-R tranny on an LS? hows that working out for you? you having to shift to early when you run through the gears?

i'm using 5w-30 motor oil. um.. the tranny is a 95 or 96 i think.. it feels better than the ls tranny.. i do have to shift earlier because top speed on each gear is lower.. much quicker accel. though, but because of the difference in ratio it is higher in rpm than the ls at the same speed. i guess because a gsr redlines at 8300 rpm and an ls is at 6900 rpm. but i like it much better.. for auto-x but for hwy drivin it kinda sucks. gas waste faster because the rpms are higher than normal. i checked on the oil thing and the guy that had it before used the same oil. Has anyone ever done this before? what did you do different? could it be that the tranny somehow got messed up while the swap? i doubt it though, i did everything slowly to make sure i didn't and plus its just the reverse gear.. thank for the info guys.. but i still need more help and clarification.. ask me to clarify on the things u guys don't understand bout what i said.
