heat shield
when you pop your hood...you will see the valve cover.... infront of that..that's your headers....and your cat is on the bottom of your engine...right next to the engine oil nut.....

well when i took off my heatsheild i took the one on the top of the cat off....i just had to cut around the o2 sensors.....b.c the top one is the one that was makin noise....it took liek an hr though cause i didnt have proper tools so i had to bend the metal back and forth till it broke..lol..

Dear God....
Just take it to a muffler shop and have them do it for you. Since you don't even know where the heatshields are, I am going to assume that you don't have a cutting torch.
According to your sig, you have a '94 -- and if it still has the stock cat heatshield, I can guarantee that the bolts for it will be rusted to hell. You'll NEVER get those off without torching/drilling them out.
