what is a safe rev for b20's ive heard that they are high revvers, id like to know what a good rpm would be to shift one of these bad boys is at, and if i do rev it higher than supposed to, what would break first? or what would wear quick

the factory rev limit is 6500rpm.

is your engine stock? why do you want to rev so high?

anyway, answer is no. they do not "like" revving, unless modified.

stock:
b20z rev up to 6900
b20b rev up to 6200
and if you rev it over alot ,you will probably bent some valves.

i wouldnt believe everything im gna say, i got it from some 240 forum. the b20 sleaves are really weak, and cant take high rpm abuse. with some after market sleeves, conrods, and crank, then you should be able to up the limit some. i watched a bmi vid that had a b20 block/ctr head that easily revved up to 9500rpms. you can dl the vid yourself if you can find it. ill post it if i do. this was all stock internals on the head, trust e-manage ecu, and a few other mods. this is the hybrid i intend on doin very soon

Damn.. should of gotten a b20z instead of the B.... Looks like i've got a lot of work to do to mine... Where can i send my block to get it sleeved? i was thinking that importbuilders can do it for me, but I haven't really heard of anyone who actually did it. Any feedback?

Don't forget that proper balancing of the crank is an absolute necessity before any kind of "high revving" in either an LS or CRV engine. I would then find a good set of rods, and a set of CP pistons (they seem to be balanced better on average than most that I've seen.

With a good VTEC head you can easily rev the bottem end to 9K plus, a good friend of mine had a B20 Short block with a Type R head and a Straight T4 on it and we reved it all the time to 9500 on stock internals and 15psi of boost.

ya i hear alot of people run the stock bottom end with a vtec head and do pretty good with it.I believe someone made 210 hp and 150 torque with jun 3's and stock bottom end with compression around 9.5-1 or so.Thats impressive.Anyone know if a ls block could do similar?Think it would put out around 160 or so with stock bottom end and b18c5 head, cams,IM?

id go with a b16 head, i read in honda tuning that the 16 head will give you 35cc's of more displacement. and the bmi vid that i told you about, the hybrid motor was a b20b block, crank, pistons, and conrods, with a b16b head. it had the normal i/h/e mods, and beat an out the powerhouse amuse s2k. and the b20/16 easily revved to 9500rpms.

That was me- stock GSR head, stock B20z block, JUN III cams, JUN header, GSR intake mani- I had the thing choked down like none other... We could rev the motor to 9k safely, but it just didn't make the power up there- I think it topped off about 86. The torque came on early, about 2.5k and flat lined across the pull.

The B16 head will give you less compression to go along with the "larger" displacement. Another thing to think about is that you may want to match the combustion chamber to the block, which will lower compression, but will be better combustion.
