too bad peeps with a black ep can't get the lip kit, apparently because the fiberglass can't hold the paint that well allowing paint chip to be more visible

umm isn't paint sticking a function of the primer used, not of the fiberglass? Lots of cars have fiberglass bodies (stock) and they don't have trouble with paint.

I was VERY INTERESTED when the lip kit came out, but I always concerned paint would not hold up well on the fiberglass material. So I did some research and emailed every person on ephatch that had a black ep and had the lip kit and they all confirmed my worse fear. Paint does not hold up well, but it is much more noticeable on a black than on a silver ep for example.

I even PM'd ep_nezay a long time ago and he said himself paint doesn't hold well on the fiberglass but because he has a silver ep the only way you can see it is by putting your nose right to the bumper. He said he wouldn't advice buying the kit if you had a black ep

Oh man....when did I say that?
My paint has been fine, did get some chips on the ctr lip BUT who wouldnt get any RoadRacing?
Now, the mugen lip has no chips so far and I have drivenit daily on street and fwys.
And yes, preping, paint and who paints it plays a big role.

remember I PM'd you asking if you had only of those white spots on your car (paint chips) and you said you do but you don't see it as much as b/c your car is ride. BUT if you said if I had a black car it would car it would be a lot more noticeable.

I know the lips are going to chip because its envitable, but a black ep can't hide it like a silver car could.

What material is the Mugen lip kit? And is the Mugen lip kit just the front lip or are there other pieces? (can't see from just that pic, skirts look like CTR skirts). And who makes the USDM CTR lip kit? Is it by Honda that made the kit for the USDM EP3's finally? Or is it just a replica by someone else? It looks real good. And are there any non-fiberglass USDM CTR lip kits?

Uh, whoever says that paint does not stick as well to fiberglass has no idea. It all depends on how it is applied, if properly prepped it will be just as good.
Obviously chips will be more visible on black than any other color, that is true, whether the material is fiberglass, metal or plastic.
BTW my vote goes to the USDM CTR kit or the Mugen lip with the rest of the USDM CTR KIT.
I think that it looks better than the JDM kit with the bumpers.

I'm the one who said paint doesn't hold up well on fiberglass, but this was mainly an assumption. I've contacted amd talked to many peeps with black EPs w/ the lip kit and they all said that when the paint chips it is very noticeable.

I just figured since all their lips are chipping must mean paint doesn't hold up well
