Default Race vs. Rice

Inspired by Chris's "Fire Extinguisher on the A Pillar" Question.

Race - 5lb extinguisher, mounted low, but within reach of the driver's right hand
Rice - 2lb chrome extinguisher, mounted in front of your girlfriend's face

Race - Whoaaaa... that ****'s loose!!!
Rice - Yo... dat ****'s tiTe!!!

Race - Wheels... 15x7 / corroded by brake dust / light
Rice - Wheels... 18x7 / shiney / tite

Race - Remove stuff to reduce weight
Rice - Add stuff to look "race"

Race - Duct tape, wire ties, oil, and brake fluid.
Rice - Polishing compound and gas (if dad will loan them $5)

Race - Dirty, sweaty, smelly smartassed guys and a few really cool and tolerant chicks.
Rice - Baggy panted punks with teenaged chicks in tube tops.
(note: Rice wins this one, but just barely)

and finally...

Race - Decals because they are required (and if strategically placed can cover dents and dings).
Rice - Decals because they look race.

Is it just me seeing this or is there something that happens when a car crosses over the boundary of rice-lite to full-rice that the driver must lean at a 20+ degree angle toward the center console to drive the car? Is it simply a mechanism to only view one color of paint or is it to avoid the aforementioned fire extinguisher projectile.

Having a rice day in Charlotte after seeing the riciest of the year 2 hours ago.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one trying to cover dents with Hoosier decals.

The big NASA and SCCA rectangular ones are excellent for this
Also a club racer friend once gave me this rule of thumb... "the uglier the door, the bigger the number you put on it."

I've driven leaned over like that a few times... but the motivation for that are SUVs with highbeams on that are behind and to my left that are bouncing a whole lot of light off my driver's side mirror and into my eyes. Might not be a problem for you guys over 5'7"-5'8", but its certainly means for a headache for those of us who are somewhat vertically-challenged.

PS- I used an ACURA magnet to cover rock chips on the hood... I just pulled it off today, surprisingly the paint looks better under the magnet than that surrounding it.

Lately I've seen drivers with their seats reclined so far their heads appear in the back window, not the front. It's very strange...

Looks like they're sitting in the back seat and the car has no driver.

yup, the A pillar mounted fire extinguisher is one I'll always enjoy. Very safe mounting location, even it were necessary/functional.

I feel the need to defend myself...

Race: wheels painted black so they hide brake dust better
Rice: wheels painted black because it's mad TiZZite yo...

Race: Clear corners because your originals are brake duct pickups
Rice: Clear corners to match your alteezas

Karl, do you have anything to say in your defense? ahembluevinylahem..
OK OK, I've got a little rice going on. The kids at Kershaw are *all about* my car, and I've never figured out why. How do you guys think I got the nickname after all. Blue stripes on the fender and clear corners mostly, but it's the blue rollcage padding that really gets the kids revving on me. I just think it looks hella tite...

And I even have some non-required stickers. The Bondurant stickers on the quarter windows are there because I paid an ASSLOAD of money for them. The honda-tech.com sticker is there because I obviously spend a little bit of time here. honda-challenge.com and THSCC should be obvious.

And BTW...the "rice" is KILLING US with the scantily clad girls thing. Makes me want to wax the car and enter it in a show. I could get some mirrors to put around it so people could see all the oil leaks and zip ties...

... Clear corners because they're WAY cheaper on eBay than OEM replacments and because the originals are scattered across Turn-5 at Waterford!

Funny how the Ricer's don't really pay too much attention to a real race car being pulled on a trailer. A car with a 300# body kit added to it...now that is another story.

OHHHHHH... You are SOOOOO wrong on this one.

I have lost count of how many times I've been revved on by a ricer while TOWING MY CAR!!! Yep, they pull up next to my Tundra, dragging 4500lbs of race car and equipment, rev a couple of times and then FLOOR IT!!!
I don't know why, but this makes me laugh every damned time .
Funny thing is that there have been a couple of Civics that I probably could have outrun had I tried .

And Shultz... the mirror thing won't work. Your car is too low.
(Sorry, couldn't help myself on that one).

Ahhh I think I found a new home,,,

You should've seen the looks/Gawks from loads of guys today as I kept at least 1 second ahead orf an S2000 and ended up by 2 seconds ahead of a heavily modded Jackson Racing SC'ed ITR with full I/H/E and the whole suspension and Big A$$ wheels today!

What is that man an LS or something? Nahhh It's an R, I just don't advertise! Stripped Debadged Dewinged NBP 01 R... At it's first Auto-X and it brought it's owner to drive it too, what a nice car.

Funny Sheet man, whats funnier is that their style or lack there of trys to emulate race look of the touring/circuit car class but they woulden't want to lose any comfort or anything, guess thats why they get the the high maintenance chicks not the cool ones.

And even funnier still was all the Riceboys that showed to Watch! WTF? Why the Hell don't these gys just register to compete? Instead the cruised arond the mall and revved their Sheet and then parked again and watched us some more, Heh Heh Heh...

A.

It is not so much a matter of how old you are... but how old "they" are.

I think it has something to do with their hat being on backwards. If they don't recline the seat and/or lean towards the center, then the bill of the hat hits the seatback or headrest.

Hey Diane,

Have you considered a nomex tube top for track days? Then again, we don't want your students to be too distracted....

Now that's true, but not because of me... at least I don't think it was because of me...
