Default Civic HX cat options

Hey whats up? I just got a new muffler put on my 97 HX, and I'm looking at what I can do for a new cat. The HX has the cat that is right off the manifold I think. Can I just punch it out or something? or do i need to find one that will fit this weird thing? Thanks

you can just punch it out. But you have to take the whole manifold off. Or you could just get a ex header and not run a cat. You have lots of options. I gutted HXVTEC's cat out on his 97 hx and and it runs fine. And since it is a 97 you wont throw a code. At least he did not.

Umm...you will definately throw a code on a 97, as it is OBDII and will be looking for the secondary 02 sensor. Especially the HX.

well then i guess we got lucky. And also i gutted the cat out in my old 97 ex coupe and i did not throw a code. It seems that only 98 and up throw codes. I did a Si and it threw a code.

Wow...I put a test pipe in place of my cat and got a CEL on my 97. Who the hell knows?
