Default Kumho/ Nitto Tires, any suggestions?

I need a tire that will be good on the street ( both racing and daily driving in rain) with a decent treadwear. I'm looking to run 205/50 15's on 15x7 rims & would like opinions from anyone running these tires, or any other brand tires.

Kumho 712s. Great on the street, great at the auto-x, great at the drag strip. Tread wear is awesome.

Khumo have an excellent traction as do Nitto! Treadware i would have to give it to Khumo! The only problem i have noticed myself was bubbles on the Nitto's and i have talked to others that said the same thing. And for price they run basically the same price at around $60 a tire. From my own experience I would choose Khumo since the most noticable thing was the grip at taking turns at a high speed, as there was no screeching, jus pure huggin! HTH

I had both , the nitto's suck I could never get any traction with them. I like the khumo's great traction and performance for the money.

Avoid Nittos like the plague, especially the 450s. I learned that the hard way.
I'm running Kumho 712s right now and for the price I paid, I couldn't ask for a better tire.

I have run both the Nitto 555s and the Kumho 712s. Get the Kumhos. Do not get the Nittos. You'll be much happier.

Avoid Nitto. I have heard horror stories of the sidewalls failing. Kumho are great (especially for the money). The 712's are really great in the rain. If you want to spend more there is always REO-10's (stock ITR tires).

I don't know about no screeching, my kumho's squeal a lot. But I had the same dilemma and I went with the Kumhos. General opinion on this board is that the Nittos suck, and for the price, Kumhos are definately a good tire.

Ok, so I see that people like the Kumho's. What do you all think about running the size 205/50 15's on 15x7 rims? Or should I run 195/50 15's?

Bang-for-the-buck, Falken Azenis... Much stickier than the 712, but don't last quite as long. I don't know if they'll be very good for drag racing because of its stiffer sidewall, but for a street/track tire, this is as good as it gets.

My Kumhos squeal all the time. I don't understand why other people don't notice the squealing. Sidewall is soft too...which is my main reason for not liking them. If you decide to get the Kumhos, bring the tire pressure up to 38psi. They'll feel A LOT better.

Don't even bother with the Nittos.

Try the Falken Azenis...though relatively new, I haven't heard anything bad about them from board members so far.

Or if you can spare a hundred or so more, get the Bridgestone RE730s...tried and proven.

hahaha, mmmmkay... well anyways, back to the subject at hand...

The Kumho's have been a great tire for the money. They have great treadwear, mine don't squeal much at all (might just be due to the size, i dunno), they are 100x better in the rain than the Nitto's, and they are VERY stable ay high speeds (never ran mine over about 140 MPH, but going down the highway at 130+ MPH is nearly as scary as it was with the Nitto's or stockers.

I have Bridgestone S-03 Pole Positions.. do yourself a favor and look into them..
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/bridgestone/bs_s03.jsp - check out "Comments".. They're $95 right now..

I squeeze through first gear with these tires when racing on the street.. As for handling, they take everything i throw at them with a built (street) suspension.. I love the tires, and i'm not trying to sell you, just showing u the light.. 12's and loving it..

<get firestones. ford has had good success with those>

Doesn't CART run on Firestone? I wouldn't touch there truck tires but some of the high performance race tires are good.
