canadian civic hb cx with a us sohc v-tec motor
wondering if anybody has had a problem with putting a sohc vtec motor + ecu in a canadian civic cx hb , because I had only one problem ...code 20 kept coming up but the chk light didn't come on ...the car runs kinda funny sometimes..I found out that code 20 is a Electrical load detector (eld).I can drive for about 10-15 min. then the car starts to hesitate or misfires..Anybody know how to fix this
The MIL won't come on with a code 20- this is normal. The ELD is located inside the underhood fusebox. It determines how much current the car is drawing and adjusts alternator output accordingly. What year is the CX? I think the cx disables the alternator under acceleration- similar to an HF- I'll have to look into it. Did you use the stock harness? If not, which harness (year and make) did you use?
The cx is a 92.. I used a 94 motor and harness but a 95 ecu ya think there could be a problem w/ my ecu? What if I changed my fuse box w/ a 95 si hb , ya think that would help?
I have never seen a bad ELD- usually this code is caused by something not hooked up or a harness problem. If you have the fusebox- you could go ahead and try it.
