How much does it cost...
How much does it cost to put say a hatchback Civic in the 12's in the 1/4 mile including the cost of the car? I was reading over some stuff here and I was just curious how much $$$ that stuff took...
it depends how u want to go about it... u can buy a hatch for lets say 2 g's... ill just take 2 examples... maybe a gsr motor (3500) and a turbo kit (3000) plus ull need an exhaust (500) prices being u do everything urself... that will net u 12's easily... or u coiuld go nitrous... which should be less than a 1g put in all correctly and taking into account refilling the bottle... those are 2 ways but in reality there are so many ways to do it... u just have to decide which route u want to go

Add a clutch to that and some suspension work. (1,500$+) you won't get 12's on the stock suspension.
I agree with doing it all yourself. Thats the only way you learn (by breakin ****)

i don't think a gsr motor exclusively or a turbo kit exclusively will get you into the 12s... maybe both... the cheapest way to go would be to fabricate your own turbo, of which i know nothing about. i think bang for buck, you could do b18b turbo.
so say... I don't see the point of a vtec motor of you're goin FI.
$2000 for car
$2000 for motor swap
$1000 for home made turbo and misc stuff (this is a very generous estimate, people can do it for like 100 bucks)
a good turbo kit will cost you 3 grand or so otherwise.
i'm no expert tho, someone'll prolly correct me later.
someone on the FI board recommended that I read Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. i think it's like 25 dollars on amazon.com... still haven't read it
but you might wanna look at that.

anyway, heres my .02
stay away from the GSR dont spend an extra 1g on a engine when you dont have to. b16a second gen, throw a turbo on that some internal work and it will net 12's.
total cost with car = about $9,000
don't go NA. it's not as cool as FI. trust me. i have a FI Hyundai. it's 11.2@150mph
