I personally prefer a more objective approach.
Edit: Regarding the original question though, there's obviously more to an exhaust system than simply piping diameter, and I'd concentrate on finding one that it well designed and constructed rather than focusing solely on the size. I personally think that a properly built 2.5" system would perform extremely well on the car, but so too would a 2.25" or 60mm system, assuming they are all of equal build quality. My preference always leans toward the larger side in terms of piping though.
