Default ITR engine troubles

Well after waiting 5 months just to get my car back from my wreck, the engine feels like it needs to go crazy on me. Four days after I get the car, the engine starts feeling sluggish. It sounds horrible like its hesitating during any form of acceleration , it has no pull what-so-ever. It feels like its got a case of hiccups or something. The idle won't stay the same, it goes all over the place from 100-2000 rpms. But the weird thing is after like say 5 min of 60mph cruising it seems to go back to normal , idles fine and all. The check engine light blinks the whole time and goes off from time to time. Any help would be nice. Is this a broken map sensor or what because I've never had a problem like this before.

do you know what check light you have? u can jump the cel plug and it will give you a code for the cel that might help figure out your situation, might be a o2 sensor going bad..

Since you're getting a CEL (check engine light), the first thing I would do is pull the
codes from the ECU:

I was thinking spark plugs but yea i was going to to grab the code when i came home but on the way home the engine magically ran perfect and i just figured it was bad gas or something. But when i went to grab a bite to eat later it started going crazy again, and the cel light came on again. First thing tomorrow i'll get the cel code and new spark plugs so hopefully thats it. Thanks

post what the problem is or was, if you figure it out. I'm having the same problem, my check engine light will be on and then after a day or 2 it will turn off. The car ran ok for the past 2 weeks or so, but since yesterday its been doing the sluggish thing and hesitating around 4500 rpm, but if I keep it at 4500 rpm for a couple of sec the engine just takes off like normal. It's weird, I'm thinking about taking it to the dealership.

Better check that oil...sounds like it's in limp mode and the ECU is keeping VTEC from engaging.

spark plugs/wires, cap/rotor. also check for any vacuum leaks which will sometimes cause fluctuating idle.

The same thing happened to me and it ended up being the ignitor. Then it happened again a year later and it was the distributor. Then I scrapped the MSD and everything has been fine since

Doesnt the igniter usually only affect start ups? I had a starting problem on my Civic and I cleaned the igniter, put in new plugs, and she fires right up and runs perfect. I was told that the igniter only really matters for start ups.

Startup sucked, but mainly my car was hesitating, and the tach would go all over the place when I would accelerate over about 5k. replaced the ignitor, and worked well after that.

It sounds like it's related to the spark plugs and wires. Also check the cap and distributor.
