Default question for you h23 guys

A while back I read in here somewhere that you can use H23 pistons in an H22 to create a lower compression ratio for turbo, supercharger... Would it be possible to use H22 pistons in an H23 to create higher compression for cheap n/a setup. If anyone has done this, let me know what kind of power you got, with other mods.

Edited since I was on the thinking of something else. You could drop the h22's compression with the h23 pistons, or raise the h23's compression with h22 pistons.

H22 pistons in an H23 engine will yield about 11.5:1 compression. Valve and head clearance is NOT an issue. I was going to do it a while back, but my H23 hydrolocked.

I'm about to put jdm h22 pistons in my h23. Compression should be around 11.4:1. The h23 rods are used but they have to be modified slightly.

Yeah, I heard it will be at 11.5:1. http://www.absoluteprelude.com/h23h22pistons.html

If I wasn't in need of $$$, I would try to build up my H23 using JDM H22 pistons. Seems like a nice and easy way to get more HP.

me and a friend were talkin and thought that it might be the wrist pin area of the rod that needs "modified", i'm guessin that the h22 wrist pins are larger than the h23 wrist pins?

Well if you use 92-96 H22 pistons on H23 rods, you're fine b/c they're press fit.

If you try to go w/ a newer H22 rod or a JDM H22 rod, then you will need to have the H23 rods rebushed to accept the floating wrist pins the H22 pistons use.

FYI, I have H22 pistons on my H23 rods.

you don't have any clearance issues? what kind of power are you making and what other mods do you have?

Clarification: I have H22 pistons on H23 rods.....in an H23 VTEC!

I did throw a rod on the H23 while it was blown and rotated it, and nothing contacted. BUT I did not clay it, so I wouldn't bet anything on how much clearance you have.

I was originally going to throw the H22 pistons into my H23, and had already bought them.....but the H23 hydrolocked and snapped a rod, so I just went H23 VTEC.

I have read of people that have done it before w/ no problems, so if you're lookin for a good ~12 HP, then go ahead!
