Default There comes a time in ones life Β….

There comes a time in ones life when things that once put a smile on your face no longer have their luster and sadly, I think that time has come. Over the past few weeks a lot of things in my life have changed, for the better, and the R just isn’t part of it anymore. For all the fun and joy the car gave me it also brought allot of headaches and pain that I just don’t want anymore. I want to be able to pick my girl up and not have to say sorry for the rough ride or keep asking what she is said as we drive down I95 because it’s so damn loud. I want to be able to go to the movies and not have the fear of walking out and my car being broken into, or worse, no longer where I parked it.

It was fun, and still to this day I think the R is one of the best and fun, bang for the buck cars you can get. On the track it obeys your every command and rockets you around corners like a race car, but the thrill is no longer there. To me the car is meant to be enjoyed by some who will use it to its full potential and I’m not longer that person.

So I’m going put her in the body shop for a while and return her to fine piece of art work she was when I bought here. Take the suspension off and put the stock rims, fin and stickers back on and take her for a trade in.

All my goodies will soon be up for sale so keep an eye out.

As for my presence on the board, I’ll still be around as I have met so many friends on here I don’t think I could leave, even if I had to. I’m going to still try to make it out to expo, but only as a spectator.

Craig - Who one day hopes to be able to buy an R as a track only car.

Sorry to see you go, what are you thinking about getting as a replacement?

Congratulations on your decision, but I hope I don't have to "grow up" for a while longer.

I'm looking into the G35's.

This has taken allot of thought and many talks with friends over beers and I'm just no longer in that scene anymore. When I bought this car, I told myself I’m never going to sell it. I’m going to keep it forever and get another car and turn the R into a full track car. But I’m just not into it anymore; I don’t see myself driving around to track it. I mean even now, I’ve only had it on the track twice and there just aren’t many around here that make it worth keeping the car just to run on the track.

Homestead? Sebring? NC folk tracks?

Yeah I know, there are tracks around, but nothing like living in NC, VA or middle america. And don't think I'm never going to be around, like I said I still want to drive up to expo and hang out and party with all of you, but I just won't have a car on the track this time.

How long did you have it?

Good luck with whatever decision you make. I think most of us can understand it. I really respect the whole "I want someone who can enjoy it's full potential" thing.

It's scary, the things you said when you got it, "I will never sell it" are the things I say to myself right now. I got my R last June...hopefully I won't tire of it as you have.

Good luck with everything man.

Bummer - I'm beginning to feel this way a bit too, but all it takes is one blast down a curvy mountain road, and I fall right back in love with her (#386)...

get a beater and keep the R - luxury cars are for middle aged pansies

Then I'm one of them I don't want to pick up my friends or my girl in a beat up pos and have a car in the garage that I never use. I'd rather fix the car up and get some money out of it and get something nice.

I bought it July 2001 w/ 300 miles on it. Right now I'm coming up on 48k.

Hey Craig....i dont know you personally but i just wanted to say that i understand where your coming from. I am only 20, today actually, but i completely understand how you feel in so many aspects. As fun as it is having the car there are just too many downfalls that go along with it. I am still young and am having fun with my car, but it wont be too long until i go the same route. I think too often instead of thinking about what i can be saving for i start thinking of what i can buy for my car next and it shouldnt be that way. Anyways....i look forward to meeting you at the Expo, and good luck with your next purchase.

Good luck Craig.

Buy an SUV (or anything with a large rear space ) to drive the girl around and keep the R.

I thought about that, but I don't care for the style of the 350 and it still seems like a tunner import car to me where as the g35 is more of a luxury car.

Trust me, I thought of this. But there is no way I can get something I want if I don't have the down payment of a trade in, which sadly is my only car, the R.
