Doing my 60k tune-up early, would like some opinions..
My '98 GS-R is sitting 53k right now. I haven't had a tune-up since I bought the car at 41k and it's been through some rough times, so I figure it'd be good to do my 60k tune-up now since I'll have some free time coming up. Plus I'd like to learn how to do this stuff anyway. Can you guys approve/critique my list of stuff to do? I got some of it from the lil' owner's manual, but this same manual says to change oil every 7,500 miles... wtf? Here goes the list:
-oil/oil filter (already done regularly)
-air filter (cleaning my K&N or getting a new one)
-valve adjustment
-replacing spark plugs (thinking about the copper ones, since they're cheaper and supposedly better, although they have to be replaced more often)
-replacing all valve cover gasket components (there's oil on the threads of my plugs)
-Replace all fluids: clutch, tranny, coolant, brake, anything else?
some things a friend recommended I do (should I do these too?):
-distributor cap (or should I do the whole assembly?)
-new fuel filter
-spark plug wires
also buying:
-a helms
-angled feeler guages
have:
-a basic ratchet set
Now some questions:
-Where is the best place to get the parts I need?
-I don't have any of the fluids, and I think a tool is needed for the clutch fluid. About how much would it cost to go somewhere and get all this stuff done?
-feel free to suggest anything that I'm missing.
Thanks dudes

All looks good, and i would definitely do a cap and rotor assembly. No special tools are needed to do the clutch, it is like the brakes, open valve and push pedal, close valve release pedal (prob have to pull it up) There are vaccum pumps made to pull fluids through, but they aren't necessary especially how little they get used. Bleeding all the fluid out of the clutch and brakes will take a while, so be ready to pump and turn for a while. Wires wouldn't hurt also, and the fuel filter would be a reasonable investment.
Spark plugs: Usen NGK BKR6E-11 wires are optional unless they look really brown and are starting to crack.
Valve adjustment: you'll need a tool, it's comercailly available through snap-on and harbor freight sells one for cheap too.
Fluids: You could probably for go doing the brake and clutch fluid, but change them if they're really dirty. For clutch you don't need any special tools.
Distributor: Just replace cap and rotor.
Cooling system: Drain and flush system, replace thermostat.
I'd also recommend you inspect the timing belt and replace that if necessary, but likely it's fine after 53k. And in order to do the timing belt you need a crank pulley tool, I had one made for me, works alot better then locking the flywheel.

Where's a good place to find all this stuff? For the distributor, if I'm not mistaken the cap and rotor is A LOT less than the whole assembly right? Also, are there fairly detailed instructions on all this stuff in the Helms?
