Default good deal????

A buddy of mine is getting rid of his 89 Civic Si. He said he would let me have it for $400. Its 100% stock with ~260,000 miles on it. The car runs fairly well, but it burns oil and blows smoke out of the exhaust really bad. The head was rebuilt ~20-30K miles ago. He also replaced the clutch a year ago or so and didn't have the flywheel machined and there was a decent lip on it so the clutch pedal is really soft. All it would need is to be resurfaced. The body and paint are in fairly good shape. Do ya'll think this is a damn good deal?

I would pull the motor and toss some new rings and maybe some bearing in along with some gaskets and have the flywheel turned. Then I would use the car for daily driving and turn my current Civic into a fun, gutted weekend car.

If the body is somewhat straight and it's not a million dollar rust bucket then I say go for it. The interior and motor can be exchanged without hassle.
