SBMS brake cooling ducts - Such bad quality.

Well today I received a box from Kingmotorsports full of Mugen parts, a box from Intercomp and a box from SBMS. The Mugen stuff was fabulous, things of beauty. Then I opened the box of brake ducts from SBMS I had ordered based on this post. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=732832
They are the worst made pieces for a car to go on a track that I have ever seen. I had read the post that said: "I hope they were REALLY cheap. The build quality looks pretty crappy, and it doesn't even direct the air to the right part of the rotor. I would stay away from them myself." and I should have listened. Parts look like they were welded by some kid who failed welding school really badly. They look so bad you don't even want to put them on your car. A mechanical engineering friend of mine was there helping me build a tire rack. We both opened the box together after looking at my nice new fabulously machined billet scales from Intercomp. Those SBMS parts just made us want to hurl.
Plus they are heavy at 1.1 lbs and you get the feeling that the flimsy bracket at one end welded on to attach them to the upright might break from metal fatigue due to the torque from the weight of the piece rocking back and forth. I am not out a lot of money, but I wish I had never gone there. So much for feeling lazy and not making them myself. So disappointed.

Is there a purpose behind the metal duct?
i figure if a company could mold a piece of fiberglass in a similiar fashion, there wouldnt be much of a problem....

A clue could be its called a "brake cooling duct". Not sure what it does though...
I wonder what would happen if you attached a hose to the round part and plumbed it to the front of the car. Hmm.......

Who cares about the build quality as long as they get the job done...it's not gonna hang on a wall of an upscale gallery, it will be underneath your car eating dirt. If it fits, then it's good. I wouldn't complain unless you paid over $500 for it.

Captain obvious, I know what that thing's supposed to do
was refering to building a fiberglass version coated with fire retardant compound.
