Default Car feels fastest on 1/2 tank?

i have a b16a2, OBD1, in my 93 dx coupe.

I swear it feels faster on about 1/2 a tank then anywhere else. Does this have something to do with fuel presure? or i'm i just on crack?

I swear it's faster/more torquey.

i have a intake and catback that's it on the b16a2.

stock fuel system. (DX pump)

Maybe a fpr could help me out?

Thanks!

I dont know. If anything I would say your car is the faster when you at like 1/4 tank or a little less cause there is practically no weight.

No, but...if you have a 10 gallon tank such as myself and you always empty it before you fill it, you definatly notice a difference toward the end. That's the 70lbs of fuel you've already taken out of the tank.

Owner, I'm with ya'!

Mine always takes 10-11 gallons to fill. I usually get 300-340 miles per tank. And mine feels a little more powerful at half tank too. I always assumed it was just my head messing with me. Every time I went to the track I was usually less than 1/4 tank, usually with gas light on. I'm going to try one day this year with half tank and see.

My D16y7 usually gets me about 240 miles before I start to get nervous about the line. I have never had the light come on warning me on low fuel but when it takes awhile for the car to turn over when starting that's when I fill up. It's so weird because it's ALWAYS a little over 8 gallons to fill it.

lol...well a every gallon weighs 8 pounds!!! it must be cause of the drastic weight reduction when your tank is half empty lol LMFAOlol

my auto ex seems faster at 1/2 to about 1/4, then it seems to be slow, probably because of fuel not fed as well, but I am no expert, just saying I notice the same

hmm, thanks guys. i guess.

it would be interesting to dyno a car with full vs 1/2 vs near empty tanks w/ and w/out a FPR.

I think its the weight issue...think about it. The tank is at the rear of a front wheel drive car...bad. And since it is also filled with liquid, whenever you accelerate forward, the gas shifts back, having more effect. So, the less gas, the less effect it has, therefore making it seem like your car is faster. Atleast I think so. It could also be that your fuel pump is getting more fuel at 1/2 tank than 1/4 tank.

i honestly think my car feels faster on a 1/2 tank than a 1/4 tank too for some reason. I know it should feel faster on 1/4 tank because of less weight, but it just feels more torquey at 1/2 for some reason.

your butt dyno is all fucked up... lol jp

it could just be the weight difference. think about it, pick up 4-5 gallons up of water. thats pretty heavy

less weight equals faster car....your butt dyno shouldn't feel much of a difference. But on the track maybe a couple thousands of a sec

Where did you hear/see/read that? It is a 10 gallon tank.

And just to make those jealous who get poor milage, last week I got 403 miles on a (10 gallon) tank in my stock d15b7 w/ 141,000mi Simple math=40mpg
