Which fuel pump should i get? 190?255?
WEll right now i am at about 11.7 compression and i have stock injectors with a stock cx fuel pump and b18c1 motor. I am running full skunk valvetrain and cams and i am planning to eventually get bigger injectors and boost my compression to around 12.7 but right now i just wanna get a fuel pump before i go get my current setup tuned. I will also be using an AEM EMS. So my question is should i get a walbro 255lph pump or a walbro 190lph pump. Are there any bad things that come from using a higher flowing fuel pump if you dont need it. I have a fuel pressure regulator and everything so any help would be great. thanks.
as i mentioned...get the 255. Nothing wrong with a little high pump action when the riser/regulator is doing just that...regulating its flow into the rail
I am running a Walbro 255 right now and its working good for my setup. If you are going to spend the money, might as well get the bigger pump and then use your tuning session to fix fuel curves and pressure, etc...
the 190 pump will work for you r application lightiningmotorsports sells it for 79 shipped as a kit the 255 is an overkill it u not boosting it but but 255 will give you alot of leverage are trying to get the hi pressure 255 or the regular call lightning tell them what your plans are they can tell u what is best the high pressure cost more 190 supports up to 350whp turbomagazine.com did a review on fuelpump that might help u decide

why would you have to drop the tank to change the pump?

Personally, I haven't seen a big difference between a stock DOHC Vtec fuel pump and the Walbro 255lph in a mild NA application. I had 2 Walbro's go bad on my too, maybe its just bad luck. My last one started losing pressure and it started gurgling and vibrating real bad. I put my stock pump in and everything is fine again. Just make sure you have a decent FPR. But if you insist on an aftermarket pump, go with a 190.
i was using a stock itr pump at 240whp allmotor. but if you looked at my dyno...you could tell it was running out of fuel due to the pump
i would recommend the larger pump. running a smaller pump will result in having a higher duty cycle. the bigger pump will run at an easier load, while supplying sufficient amount of fuel. hope this helps.
ya actually it did help out a lot.. i think i am going to go with teh 255 and eventually get some 310 injectors when i boost my compression... thanks.. if you have any more comments just keep em coming

255 is OVERKILL. everybody goes with the 255 because its the biggest. if walboro made a 320lph pump, nuff peolpe would buy it also. even n/a guys with 11/1 c.r. and stock gsr cams. nuff people think "if it's bigger then its better. you know, that "i need a gtr fmic for my 180whp d16 turbo ****". i think the reason alot of people buy the 255 is because they don't think of supplying more fuel through bigger injectors and proper tuning. if you have the proper injector, a decent sized pump and good tuning, stock 135lph gsr/itr pumps are fine. i get a laugh from this type of ****.

so untrue. people like me buy the 255 pump because their future setups of 200+ hp require more fuel. thus the needs for a faster pump, fuel regulator, and ultimately larger injectors. no one is skimping.
