I am interested in knowing how many people have just put a block girdle on their motors without checking the mains?

If you have, have you torn your engine down since and what did the #3 mains look like?

Are you referring to motors in which the block girdle did not originally come?

I'd also be interested in finding out. I've only been blessed with stock block girdles thus far.

 

put a gsr griddle on my b20 block....then had it line bored....worked great!

 

i'm also curious about this.... but fortunately for me, my d16 came stock with a girdle

 

I put on a Z10, had the mains/girdle machined for dowels. 10k later, 2, 3, 4 main bearings looked pretty damn good. 1 and 5 looked horrible. They were super bright, but had not yet started getting into the lower materials.

edit: I did not line bore it, the machine shop said it was straight. I'm not going back there again. Next time, I am probably using a 5 main girdle cap anyway....
