what are your thoughts on the tein coilovers vs tanabe sustecs? they are goin on a EJ so let me know what you guys recommend.

 

whats the use of your car? do you race? auto-x? or just daily drive

 

its a daily driver, but we take it to the races when they are hosted, other than that i just want somethin that can handle good and have tunability for street and off street purposes...im goin to get a good deal on both so its just up to what i want

SSs over the basics anyday. **** non adjustable setups.

 

both of my bros have the tein flex. rides nice and stiff

 

SS Have had for about 2 weeks now and..LOVE IT!

 

I have Tein Type Flex and I love them . I have a friend that has Tein SS's he said that that SS stands for Super Shitty. Its like buying OEM springs that are 1% stiffer.

 

For what it's worth, I've had the Tein SS on my '94 Sol and love 'em. Easy to adjust if & when necessary, positive and predictable handling.

 

so your friend would not recommend the SS's then huh? i have never heard bad reports on the SS, maybe he got some defective ones or somethin...well thanks anyways

 

tein SS is a nice ride on the street... and is all i need at the track. keep in mind 95% of civic forum members have never raced with the parts they rant or rave about.

i wouldn't get basics though... too basic

ya he must have had a defective set, cause I LOVE mine! I do wish they had some beefier spring rates though.

 

so no one has used the tanabe sustecs?

 

Everyone these days buy Tein's because they are brand name and are known to be pretty good in my opinion .

 

i have the tein flex's with the erfc and i love them. the edfc is great if you drive on roads that go from smooth to bumpy, as you can adjust the stiffness of the damping as road conditions demand. even on the softest setting they are still very stiff though, and for a daily driven car id say they might be a bit much if a lot of the roads by you arent in the best shape. (the flex's are 504lb/in front and 224lb/in rear adjustable +/- 200lb/in i think).

the SS's are softer at 392 fr and 168 rear, so they would probably be more fit for daily driving. i have heard though (havent seen it personally) that in winter conditions the bare steel threading on the damper body on the SS's will rust. the flex's are teflon coated, so it doesnt happen to them.

 

 

I personally want to go with the Tein SS's with the integra spring rates.. might be something to look into.

Yeah mine have a little bit of rust on them, but it's not really a problem... You could go with the SS and if you decide that the rates are not good for what you want to do you can always order stiffer springs from tein... they've got a whole line of replaceable springs for thier coilovers...

 

gotta say..what about the JIC s?...there s rumor going around they might be pretty good too

 

yeh i have heard good things about teh JIC's...i see them a lot on drift cars like 240s and the like...but the onl thing is is that i cant get them at a good price compared to the other two...but other than that i heard they are pretty sic

 

anybody use those tanabe sustecs???????????????? or have feedback

i have sustecs on my prelude. its really pretty stiff and handles great...no complaints for a street/competition use. a lot of my buddies have the tein re's also...i think teins are better off over the teins tho. (only reason i got my sustecs was cause i got hooked up really good)
