Default Valve Adjustment??

My engine seems to be a bit noisy lately...
I don't even push my car and it only has ~25000 miles...
At ~3000rpms, I hear a pretty noticable sputtering(not sure if thats the right wording but anyways)sound from my engine...
I was wondering if this means I should have my valve clearance inspected and adjusted?
Input would be helpful~
Thank you~

First of all, what motor are we talking about?

Second, has it ever had a valve adjustment before?

Talking about a B18c5...
Never had a valve adjustment, but in the maintenance schedule, it says that next to the inspect valve clearance, and then it says adjust if noisy...

And only reason I thought it was valve adjustment was because the owners manual said adjust valve clearance if noisy...
Again I state I do not know much about mechanics of a car

valves only make a loud tapping sound, and its probably easiest heard at idle. if you hear something else, then you might have some other issue. you keeping up with your oil changes? when you say it makes a sound at 3K rpm, is that at a stead 3K rpm or when you romp on the gas?

Yeah, I've been doing all my scheduled maintenance and oil changes... Hopefully I don't have a big problem... I do still have my factory warranty until April though...
