Default Please help - CTR Piston problem!

Hi!

My timing belt snapped a few months ago, and I send my 92 VTi b16a2 in to honda for a rebuild. Brand new P73 head, and CTR pistons.

Honda just called me, and te CTR pistons wont fit onto the PR3 rods. What to do? Are there aftermarket rods that will fit? Will I need to machine the existing rods? Please help, this is urgent for me

Thank you!

Edit: Could someone please confirm the part number for std CTR pistons?

Machine the rods; you have to take a little off of the small end to clearance the pistons.

This is a Honda dealer doing the work?
I would think they should know this.

Dealers do not do much mix and match stuff. They build an LS motor with all LS parts, ITR with all ITR parts, etc. Only Honda geeks like me know about this other stuff; for most Honda techs it's just a nine to five day job. Then they hop in their domestic built trucks and get their jet skis, boats, and dirt bikes and head out for the weekend.

lol.. I see where you're coming from. If I was a honda technician I'd want to be up to date with not just maintenance repairs, but also high performance upgrades/aftermarket product know-how also. Just like you..

Just for show, I thought I could drop my list of accolades

B16A2 engine with PR3-3 head, with brand new P73 internals (Im a real oem *****) and PCT cams. The head has been pnp'ed and milled 0.4mm - not much, but enough for sealing.

- B16A2 PNP'ed Head (Light, and milled)
- ITR LMA's
- ITR Rocker Arms
- ITR Valves
- ITR Valveguides
- ITR Retainers
- ITR Dual valvesprings
- ITR Oilshafts
- ITR Oil Dowels (the ones that go thru the oilshafts)
- ITR Gasket Kit for Head and Block
- CTR Camshafts
- CTR Pistons w. rings

Drivetrain:

- New syncros
- Spoon Sports clutchkit
- JUN Flywheel
- Quaife LSD (On order, not yet arrived)

Suspension:

Jic FLT2a coilovers (On order, not yet arrived)
Complete "Energy" bushing set for LCA's, etc.

Exhaust:

Type1 Racing 4-2-1 Header (Soon to be replaced by a Toda 4-2-1)
Type1 Racing Resonated Testpipe
Type1 Racing Resonated B-pipe
Type1 Racing Ti Muffler

Wheels:

OEM 15" for now, but a set of 15" TE37's when spring hits

As for performance gains, I have no expectations. I used to own an ITR, and its not going to be remotely close to that, so if it works, Im happy.

If I reach 160whp Im satisfied.
