Guys, the b16a has larger fittings on the motor side of the radiator hoses than the stock radiator. OK, we all know that.

But, getting some to fit RIGHT is hard, and I have not solved that at least for my 1991 Civic EX:

1st I tried 99 Si hoses and the shape was right but there was too much space to get a good seal on the radiator side and little leaks esp around the top hose.

2nd I asked in this column about tricks, and was told x2 that 91 LS Teg hose on the bottom and 92-93 GSR hose on the top. Guess what? Same size and basic shape as the Si hoses.

3rd Went back to using bike inner tube piece as a spacer on the top hose (radiator size) to stop.

So, anybody else have any ideas about a better hose setup???

The shop that I work at has done at LEAST 6 of the B16A into EF civics, and you know what we use?

The 94 Del Sol VTEC/99 Civic Si hoses.

Try a screw-type hoseclamp on the radiator side...

I promise you it works -- at least it has 6 times before.

 

The way that I solved this problem on my EF(CRX) w/a B16a swap was Integra hoses and an Inttegra radiator from the salvage yard.I remember having to trim an inch or two off the hoses but it was worth it-all of your water neck sizes match,the radiator bolts right in and your motor will run cooler(even more so if your radiator comes from an auto Teg like mine-just leave the tranny cooler part unattached).

 

u can by flexable hoses from your parts store 6-15 dollars depending on how long

 

Yea, I'm going with the 1st setup and just trying to tighten it up with the screw but the teg radiator is a good idea too...
