Default Broke a Rear LCA bolt

im posting this question for a friend of mine,..he was installing coilovers on his 98 civic,..he gets to the rear of his car and he tried to loosen the LCA bolt that connects the rear hub to the LCA,..well it snapped,..he is gonna take the car to a shop tomorrow to have them remove the rest of the rusted bolt and put in a new one,..his question is,..is it just gonna be that easy? or are they gonna tell him he needs to have a new bushing for the LCA and all that good ****? i think as long as they can get the bolt out than a new bolt is all he is gonna need,...but he just wanted to know if im right so he doesnt get dicked by the shop,..also can he just get that bolt at a hardware store like lowes or anything? does he have to get it from honda? or should a suspension shop have that bolt?

I highly doubt it will be easy for any one to remove a rusted in bolt with its head broken off. Not being a smart *** just being honest.

If the mechanic doing the job isint careful he could either damage the bushing or the retained nut on the hub. But it comes with the territory so be prepared for it to happen and if it dosent consider yourself lucky.

And thats a big no on lowes get a new bolt from honda. The bolts have special plastic inserts and grooves for grease not to mention the metal the are made out of is special compared to a generic off the shelf bolt.

i know its not gonna be easy to get that bolt out,..and thats what i told him,..he just wants it to be a one day job becuase this is his only transportation,..and plus he is worried its gonna cost a grip,..i kinda figured lowes or any hardware shop wouldnt have the bolt,..but he is hoping the shop he is taking it to, which specializes in suspension, has the bolt he needs

I had the same problem when installing the suspension on my hatch. He will probly need new bushings. I ended up grinding the head off the bolt and cutting the other side off. Then i just cut the old rubber bushing out with a hacksaw blade. I bought ES bushings and new bolts from honda. Probly cost me $30-35 for everything. The bolts were like $6-8 each and they had to order them. Good luck.

I broke that same bolt you broke, as a matter of fact it started stripping so i just bought one of those drill bits that drills through the bolt and used a bolt out tapping tool and it came out like a snap
