black hoods
okay i drive a firebird and i don't know much about aftermarket stuff with imports, but i've been seeing black hoods on a lot of hondas lately, and i was wondering what was special about them? like every time it would be a black hood and a different color body altogether, usually white. my cuz has one, and i took a close look at it, seemed to have some sort of texture to it, tho i didn't have a chance to ask him about it. anyone know what i'm talking about?

it's called carbon fiber. it's stronger, lighter, and i heard it dissipates heat better but who knows. they weigh anywhere from 8 to 13lbs or so..that'd be a good guess. stock hoods weigh like 30+ lbs. it's for looks/weight. average cost of a quality hood is around $500

Yeah, it's called carbon fiber hood. It's for weight reduction, and looks. But if you're planning to get it, you probably should get hood pins, so the sucker doesn't fly up, and hits your winshield.
any specific reason people don't paint the hoods? or do they keep it like that as a 'don't f*ck with me cos i have fiberglass hood' thing?

Cause that's how I bought my car.... and it was only like that for almost a year
But now it's painted S2000 silver
