2001 ITR or S2000 - trade?
I have a 01 PY ITR and I have the chance to trade it in for a 01 S2000 with 16,000 miles on it. Does any one have any input on what I should do. As far as 1/4 mile which is faster? And top speed??
Drive the S2000 and then decide for your self. The S2000 is a fun car, but gets old as a daily driver. As for drag racing an S2000....that is funny.

s2000 will be faster of course, on same hand, you can make your itr as fast as you want.. if you don't need the extra room that comes with itr, and like covertables.. testdrive s2000 and decide from there.

choose the type r..thats my opinion...i used to own a 2001 py itr and it was insane when VTEC kicked in...and as of right now i drive a 97 prelude and i hang with those s2k's... i mean he isnt the best driver and all, but those cars should be takin me no problem...he was drivin a 03 s2000....i was also hearing that those were the slowest years, but i could be wrong..if i were you i would choose the ITR.
the reason: type r's are collectors cars...they only made a small amount each yr...
type r has more potential.....

Yep. Don't plan on the S2000 clutch lasting for more than about 1 outing at the strip. You need to understand that neither of these two cars were designed for your specified goals (1/4 mile and top speed), and that neither will accel at either. If you plan on buying a car to meet these two goals then go buy a turbo Supra.

those must be some slow s2000's.... s2000 owns an itr which owns a prelude. i've driven all these cars. i used to own an ITR and now own an s2000. the s2000 is a "real" sports car, the itr is a high performance economy car.

If i were able to trade straight up for an S2000, I would do so. Stock for stock, its faster, better handling, RWD, no theft hassles and more comfortable IMO than the R. Only downsides are little space to haul around stuff and not winter friendly.
I think my ITR is worth around 17k. I just did a search on autotrader and I can get the same year S2000 with the same miles for 19k. The difference most people here spend on an exhaust.
Performance wise, I think they're probably about the same. The S2000 is slightly faster in the 1/4 mile, but pulls slightly lower lateral acceleration numbers that the ITR. On a road course they're probably equal.
I've ridden in a S2000, and it is fun. But I like the ITR better. Its all in your preference though. Both are fun cars.

I disagree. The ITR is a street legal track car. Honda initially made it with the idea of it not even being street legal.

i just noticed you are asking this question in the itr forum... i'd be suprised if most people didn't vote for the ITR... so ITR all the way!
i have owned two ITR's and now own an s2k. the s2k is definately a different car. i would love to have a little more carrying capacity, but thats what you buy a beater for.
check out the type r legends video,by best motoring. they test drive the prototype s2k, maybe that will help. pretty impressive.....

Neither car is worth a damn in the 1/4 and who cares what the top speed is if you dont live in Germany?
The S2k is a fine car but to me it has 2 problems: 1 - Its a convertible (I dont like them) and 2 - there is no storage room to speak of.

I am in the same dilema, but the ITR does have more support as far as mods go. The main problem for me is I don't really get to enjoy my car sometimes because of where I park it and not think about it not being there when I come out. Right now all I go with my car is to work or straight into my garage.
I have driven a s2k and it is really nice and comfortable. Lack of trunk space may pose a problem, but not a big deal. I dislike convertables too, but nothing a mugen hard top can't fix
Just take your time and research the idea... somtimes it's just an urge to change. At the end of this all most likely you'll end up sticking to your ITR. Which most likely happen to me... Hope this was of help.
