Default Clunking noise from my Kaaz is this normal.?

I finally got my tranny back together, with my Kaaz diff. I am using 80-90 gear oil, with Chevy LSD additive. I was doing some canyon driving this morning, and when I have very little throttle input, there is this "Clunking" noise. It sounds like the axles are binding. But if you either increase throttle input or get off the throttle, the noise goes away. Is this normal? When the diff locks up it feels great. Again light throttle input feels very notchy. Is there any way to get a smoother engagment? It feels like its on or off.

I would say it's normal. We use an ATS LSD ... and it clunks at real low speed turns.

Does it feel like the car is pulsing? Like the diff is locking and unlocking?

Yes, I would say so. It's like a chattering type feel.

Yes it's normal. Learn to love it, and drive around it

you should try pushing a stock car with a spool (locked diff)around the pits... if you turn it too tight it's like pushing a car around with the e-brake on

not to TJ, but wondering if you all have the issue of this engagement noise when you're at idle? Mine doesn't clunk... just sounds like the discs are pushing together

advanracing62,
I get different noises all the time. Sometimes no noise whatsoever, to a audilbe clunking, and everything inbetween.

This doesn't sound right to me, at idle mine makes no noise. Are you certain that it was shimmed properly? Or that the ring gear height wasn't too high? I have mine in a YS1 and used the hydro tranny (92-5 Sir) application and had to cut down the heads on the bolts to make it fit and clear first gear.

thanks for the reply- this tranny is new to the car so I'm just making sure that everything is on the up and up... I am going to the GM fluid with the FM very soon!

When the car is idleing in nuetral, it makes no noise. I was refering to idleing while in gear, and making turns. I also have a the same tranny set up. (YS1 with a hydro tranny LSD) Sometimes the car makes noise and sometimes it doesnt. Depends on temperature, is what I have come to conclude.
