Might need a new tranny? GSR/Si?
I have a '94 GSR...2nd gear grinds on high rpms and forget about downshifting! Wondering if Si trannys are good? Don't know the gear ratios n such? Any help is appreciated. Peace!

the b16 tranny will top out too quick, if you do alot of highway driving you'll be riding in high rpm's...the gsr is geared so it's not too long or too short
i had an LS and it was too god damn long, then i went with a gsr and it was perfect, great acceleration but yet was good for highway driving

Are you looking at just replacing the tranny with something else that works, or are you looking for a genuine upgrade from what you have? Also, are you on the highway much, and if so do you care about cruising at high rpms? These questions and more need to be answered before anyone can genuinely help you with your decision.
the si tranny has gears to small.. you will top out quick but your gs-r has torque and the si tranny was made specifically for torqueless b series.. that way b16 motor wont come below 5200 rpms when racing.. it is almost the same as if you get the b16 motor with the ls tranny.. rpms will drop significantly when racing due to high gears.. i would say stick with your gsr tranny.. gsr tranny is better for motors that have a bit more torque
