a while ago the alarm system on my car stopped working. i came out to my car from work one day and it wouldnt de-arm. so i unlocked the door with the key which set the alarm off and just popped the hood and pulled the appropriate fuse to turn it off. so i replaced the battery in my remote and the alarm still doesn't work. the light flashes on the remote when i press the button so it works. must be something wrong inside the car. anyone know whats up or how i can fix this? I figured I'd ask the almight honda gurus before I drop this off at the honda dealership and pay $60 just for them to tell me whats wrong. thanks guys. btw its a 98 honda civic ex coupe with the factory alarm.

 

chances are you have a valet switch under your dash somewhere. It should be a momentary push button.

If the battery went dead in the remote and you replaced it, you will need to have the remote re-programmed at the dealership. Sorry
