How to adjust timing?
Ok, Ive got the timing light and know how too hook it up. Now what? How do I get the reading? I don't have a helms or any manual available right now. PLease help?
that's how you do it, basically, but I think he'll have a harder time trying to find the timing marks.
You'll need to look down your timing belt cover, and you will see a V and a little I stocking out of the cover slkightly. These are your "sights" to line up witht he timing marks on the crank pulley. If you have an inductive timing light, set the degree of timing you want, and line up the white mark on the crank pulley in the sights.
If it's just a standard timing light, you will see a red mark which =16 degrees on most of the Honda engines, and a line on each side, referring to +/- 2 degrees, or 14 and 18 degrees. Line up the degree needed with the sights and tighten the dizzy bolts back up, and double check.
Make sure you have no accessories on and the idle is at 750 +/- 50 rpm before setting
