Aight so last friday night i was leaving work in my ITR and i was at the light to turn left, the light had to lanes, the left could only turn left and right (the one i was in) could go left, straight or right. So the light turned green i procceded foward getting a little ahead of the guy and we both turn, but the guy turns into my lane hitting me above my drivers side rear tire, he was driving a dodge dakotta(sp). We pull over and they guy said he didn't see me, so i get all his insurance information and license info. I gave him mine and he just looked at it and gave it back to me. He then said he wanted to settle out of insurance and pay out of his pocket. So i told him that i would go ahead and not inform my insurance company and go and get an estimate. I got two estimate and the damage turned out to me $2200.00. I tryed calling him a couple of times, he never returned my calls then i called my insurance company. The insuance company calles me today and gets a statement from me then after the statement he told me the guy told a totally different story. He never mentioned the turn and said that i tryed to cut him off. And to top it off, the car he was driving wasen't even his.

I really hate it when people can't be adults about things and not own up to there own mistakes. I think i my have my lawyer send him a letter trying to scare him. He told me at the accident that he wanted to be a man about this and settle up himself, and then he goes and pulls this crap. What a man .

Sorry guys for the long post or even if it doesn't belong here but i had to vent my anger to my fellow ITR owners.

should ALLLLWAYS keep a camera in your car just for things like this. I keep a Desp. camera in mine. This way you get out without moving the cars snap the shots and ur done. Then the ******* can't lie...

 

yeah i took pics, but the police wouldn't come out because no one is injured, so it is his word against mine basiclly

something like this happened to me back in august, i was driving pretty hard on a twisty road. me in the left lane and a caddy in the right, he came into my lane and tapped me which caused me to lose control and did a 360+ into the guard rail. when the cop came, the guy told him i lost control. bullshit, i drive that road everyday to school. i wasn't pushing my R to limit, only fast. the moron in the caddy tried to keep up with me but couldn't. so when insurance calls, it turned into a you said this but he said this. i had evidence of him tapping my door (paint markings) but that wasn't enough to prove it wasn't my fault. even the cop in his report didn't right whose fault, he just wrote our stories. in the end, it was a double fault and i got screwed. i'm still debating on whether or not to sue the jerk for my deductible.

 

Its sucks but next time, u must call Police and get an accident report. It protects u whether or not you file a claim.

 

I called the police, and they said that because no one was hurt it wasen't work there time. Bullshit

whatever i am probably going ot file suit with the guy, i think i have a good case since the guy didn't even copy down my insurance info or anything, he just looked at it and gave it back, and i have all of his info.

 

I actually got rear ended one time (not in the R). The guy didn't see me slowing down and then swerved at the last minute and hit me crooked and knocked me into the ditch. He claimed I was trying to illegally turn when he was doing 50 in a 30, and knocked my fifteen feet forward into the ditch (his vehicle weighed about twice what mine did). I ended up getting a ticket for illegal turning, but at least the accident was ruled to be dual fault. I payed out of pocket to keep it from going on the insurance.

 

i am sorry to say but your a ******* dumb asssssss.... i hear this same sob story all the time... the reason why this happens is cause you dont call the cops and they person who hit you has ways around what happened .. it happend to my sis and her prelude....

always call the cops they make the reports blame who is at fault and it is OFFICAL and there is no way around it .....and you have a right to demand there be an officer sent out.... if all else fails say your hurt just to get them out there ....

make better decisions and you wont get fucked

sorry to hear what happen to you.....base on my own experience......ALL people LIE about what really happen in the accident....especially after they go home, they have more time to think about how to twist the story.

ALWAYS call the police and make they come to fill out a report....ppl usually tell somewhat the true when they are asked by the police, and the police can figure out who may be lying at the site if either party telling a very different story.

Last time I had a car accident.....the woman who hit me even try to "change" the police report Of course, she failed

 

cops only come out if someone is injured or drunk. what state are you guys in? in oregon you go to the dmv and fill out your own accident report.

 

only reason a cop wouldnt respond is if you called them after the fact like if the guy left and you exchanged info and now you want to make a report in some states its the law if you dont call the police at the scene of the accident at the time it happend and you decide now to make a report then they cant take a report for fruadulent reasons you have to fill out your own accident report with your story and send it to your insurance CO and the DMV

The last few times I have had an accident the cops came out but didnt write a report. They just gave us both these blue sheets to fill out and give to the other person. One time in my Si I almost had to pay $9,000 out of pocket when the other person who was at fault wrote down false information on his blue sheet for me. He put down somebody elses name and address. When I went to get an accident report to get his real name they told me they dont write one they just give us the sheets to give to our insurance companies. Needless to say my insurance company payed it but after some bullshit investigation.

I agree. Always file a report. Even if you don't use the report, it's always good to have one in file that way if you ever needed to resort to the claim, you can. This happened to me also. It's too bad that this world has jerk-off's that are more cowards and chump's than they are men. Hope this all works out for you.

 

I hate to be a jerk, cuz I know you were just tryin to be nice to the guy... BUT

It's your fault... Thats why we have laws so things like this don't happen...
