Hey guys I am thinking of getting a Prelude and want to know some things if you all can help me.
What year does the 5th gen start?
What year did the 4th gen stop? Is the 4th Gen better then the 5th?
Is there a 5th gen that is Manual? I couldn't find one....
WHich of the two is better and why?
Did the 5th gen com with an SI version?
FInally what would you ll say was the best reson for buying a lude?

I know its all personal opinion but any help would be great. Thanks

4G is lighter than 5G and I personally like the interior on the 4 more than the 5, Plus4G has awesome front seats!

Yes, The manuels are more sought after hence the rare'ness

Weighs less, minted interior, sleek curvasious racey looks and a fierce front end and great fun to drive!

I think so not 100% tho, A 5G'er will answer this for you

5th gen started in 97, not 96.

the 5th gens all have the same motor. there was base and sh, and the sh costs more for some extra weight and slowness

 

just get a 5speed

 

4g lighter than 5g, and obd1.

Get a prelude, 4g, 5g all great cars, just make sure you get a standard!

 

BTW, What does Ned know about preludes?

what u really had to know that the 5th gen lude is 2000$ cheaper built in production than the 4th gen,sounds not much but count it all together,the 5th gen not only lost the interrior....
(this is well known over all at honda so dont call me an idot or so...)

4th gens are better, they are lighter, obd1(except for 96) and the vtec models have 345cc peak and hold injectors as opposed to the 5th gen with 280cc saturated injectors, that's puss

 

Hey thanks to all for the help. Does anyone have pics of the inside of a 4th and or 5th gen? Sorry about the NED should have been need I'll proof read better next time. Also I know I shoukd know this but since I don't can anyone DEFINE OBD1. I have done serches but I can't find direct answers to these Q's

In the US, 5th gen started in 97 - In Asia & Europe, 5th gen started in 96

 

I LOVE my 4th Gen. I have never driven a 5th Gen....but I just like the sporty feel of this car. The seats are GREAT too. Great support.

The Si isn't too bad, but I would go for a VTEC if you can. They are just VERY difficult to find.

 

I chow my 5th gen seats compared to my damn old legend seats where i just slide right off around corners.

I guarantee you will love both the 4th gen and 5th gen no matter how biased people are, they are both greatly built cars...

nope, 5th gen came in just STD or SH

both come with VTEC standard

SH has Active Torque Transfer System(ATTS) to help on the cornering by decreasing understeer.

 

Homework is the key!

 

hooray for doing your HW...just be sure if you get a 5th gen, DO NOT GET AUTOMATIC... this is a warning, your transmission WILL blow...guaranteed. Proof? Ask my honda dealership i gave the car back when it blew 4 months after i bought the car...Auto is fast as hell, but the Stick is more reliable engine wise...

Careful on purchasing a 4th Gen Si, because if its high mileage the h23 will usually show signs of wear unless they fixed her up. But thats a basic to any used car purchase.

lol True that. If I where to get a 2nd car it would be a 4th gen Prelude.
