Anyone ever tried this?? Truck lining instead of floor repaint.
Ive been thinking about this for quite a while.. Ive got a 2000 SiR, and Ive chiseled all the sound deadening out. Now, Ive had the floor and trunk bed sprayed with some paint to cover up all the ugmo sound deadening spots and scratches and such. However, the paint is scratched, chipped and ugly now.
So, I was thinking.. I called up the local Rhino Linings dealer... for those of you who dont know, they do custom truck linings and stuff like that. For the same price of painting the inside of your car.. (well, the floor etc) you can have a lining sprayed in. He said they use about 4 gal on a full size pickup bed. On the average pickup, they spray in about 1/4 inch.... on my car, I would need a coating like 2mm thick.. therefor it would be light, cheap, indesructable, and color matched VSM.
Has anyone else done anything like this?? I took out the sound deadening for a reason, so im not looking to do this if its going to result in a load of dead wieght. If youve got pics or stories that would be great

haha the sounds dending was probley, what, less then 5lbs? I dont think its going to hurt to add it some linning in there to make the car at least look half way decent.
I remember a few threads like this when I first came to HT, but I never saw anyone actually do it. I'd be interested to see how it turns out. I think the biggest factor is weight, as no one was really positive how much weight it would add.
Depends on what your intentions are. That stuff might be pretty heavy (the lining stuff), so if you're going for weight, then no. If you spray it as thin as you're saying, then it may not stand up to you throwing anything back there.
But if you're just looking for an alternative to painting, why not?
Dunno if you can convince a place that sprays beds to do the back of your civic, though. That stuff doesn't come in a rattle-can.

just buy the crap at the store you can brush on, you will be able to control how much you put on, thus controlling the weight.
or go ff squad on it and take it to a body shop and have the inside spayed to match.
