Default Getting bike...and insuring

Ok wel i went to my insrance company today and got a quote on a 2000 GSX-R 600

She said it would be $130 for libality for a year or $613 for full coverage. And she said i would need a license to insure

Well i didnt think that was gonna be a problem i was gonna get my permit this week. But then i was thinking how am i gonna be able to "learn" without a bike lol. I mean i wont be able to buy one because i wouldnt have my license so i couldnt insure it. I can take the Motorcycle Safty Course and get my license after that but that wont be untill july, and i didnt want to wait that long. I mean i could go and just take the test but im not sure how hard it is and if id pass. I used to ride dirtbike's for a number of years but not really streetbikes so i do have some experience. I could always ask a friend to ride theres but i doubt they would want to lend out there bike.

So i was wondering for ppl in my situation what did u guys ride while on ur permit if u werent allowed to insure ur bike untill u got a license? and do u think the insurance seems good im really happy with the price considering im only 19.

thanks
mike

thats a freakin cheap. I pay like $400yr for liability...i got a shitty record tho

What i did was practice riding on my ex500 for like a year around my local neighborhoods. Then i eventually stepped up to an f4i. I never had my license tho, still rocking the permit!

yeah i was really surprised at the price considering i have a wreck and a few tickets.

how did u insure ur bike, did they let u only having a permit? were u allowed to buy it and get the title with only a permit...cause that is what i want to do just have the permit, but she said id need a license.

or is the bike in someone elses name; ur dads, etc?

I financed my bike through the bike dealer. Everyone says that you have to have the title in order to get liability. I dunno how i have liability then...on top of that with a permit. I did it online through progressive. maybe they dont know i dont have the title...who knows. Either way i'm insured thats all i care about. bikes under my name too.

my brother is the same way. Liability on a financed bike w/ permit

Take the class, it doesnt matter how old or young u are. Once u pass the class and u have ur permit. No need to take the ridin test at the dmv. Wen i bought my bike i didnt have shiet no permit no nuthin and they sold me the bike n i got insured by state farm for $35bucks a month for full coverage. Call up state farm, they got the best rates around.

Thats who i got the quote from state farm

ive been on my parents policy with them for 3 years now. and i have 2 wrecks on that.
and i got a quote from the lady and she said those prices on my parents policy, but im putting the bike on my own policy and she said the prices are going to be the same. so i was very happy at that but now im a bit skeptable

but i do know state farm is cheap because they just go by CC size and year alittle bit, it doesnt matter what kind of bike it is

May I ask who you're insured with? Do they insure in CA? I have 2 points on my record and am looking at getting just liability. My insurance renewal is next month and I was quoted by State Farm for liability for 6 months to be $900 on an F4i. Needless to say, it's time to look for a new insurance company.

i was with AAA for awhile until i got kicked out cuz of my points. This was my first bike(600rr) and i have one point on my record still. But for some reason state farm gave me a good rate. I dont know why. Am only 22 and am payin $103 month for my integra, full coverage for my bike, n life insurance. I think thas the best rate ever.

35 bucks for full covergae is insane. I shopped around and the best i could get was 450 a year full coverage. i thought that was cheap.
