small claims court... unless you signed a NOT liable form releasing him from any wrongdoing... HE is liable.

grap a test sample of his cleaning solution that you think he used, and test it on a area of the rim. If it shows the same results, then you can go after him a lot easier. Small claims court is an idea, but is a big PITA!!! Trust me, I had to do it to a stereo show who cracked my windsheild and denyed do it. Of course I won and I got my money to get a new one.

ALL detailers use wheel acid. He's an *** for using it on your anodized rims. I had a dealer use it on my stock wheels and it worked at getting the dust off - but also took off the nice yellow colour on my calipers.

I've used even the "safe" acidic wheel cleaners and have noticed this hazing on my Mugens as well.

You will have to go to small claims court for this I'm sure. If it's not TOO bad, I would give the guy and earful about how he doesn't know **** - and not go there anymore (and tell him you will spread the word about how crap his shop is).

In the future - ask what products they will be using on your car before you drop it off. And ask what policies they have concerning damage to your car if it occurs while in their hands. Most shops have pretty strongly worded liability agreements that basically leave you s.o.l.

over half of "proffesional detailers" have no ******* clue what they are doing. they probally used some highly acidic cheap junk from pep boys. There is really nothing you can do except have the wheels repainted. try to find out exactly what product he used. Never trust your car with someone else!

I know of two good detailers in our area. Pearls of Pristine (they use Zymol and Meguiars products ONLY, and they are ALL car guys), and Soft Touch in the North Shore.

I use meguiers or Griots Soap on my paint, after that I use a different mitt and the same soap to do my painted wheels, It is so nice and delicate.

Yeah but how do you get baked on brake dust/rotor filings off your rims. That stuff is like molten tar. I can't get the **** off.
