Default wont start....bad dist?

Ok a few days ago my car threw CEL 9: Cylinder Postition Sensor. A friend of mine said it had to do with the distributor. Well while the CEL was on it was hesitate alittle bit in the lower rpm's like 3k or less. This went on for 2 days

Then i was getting on it on the highway redlined 2nd,3rd, 4th. Car felt ok but a bit sluggish. I got on it again i down shifted to 3rd and the car wouldnt rev past 7400. (my redline is 8500). It just like stayed at 7400 or so. So i **** to 4th and it stayed at constant rpms. I get off the highway and when i floor it the car would accelerate very slow and gain rpms really slow. It sounded fine just very very slow. And it started to hesistate and buck alittle. So i made it to my one house and parked it (unfortunally its the one without the garage or tools)

Well i shut the car off: and now it wont start. It turns over very slowey most of the time but it wont start up. Then other times the starter just clicks. Starter should be goodd cause it clicks and i just replaced it a while ago, battery is good cause all of my lights , radio, S-AFC work. And i doubt alt could do this. I know if the dist went bad iw ould get no spark or little causing bad performance like it showed on the road.

Well i think its the distributor because of the CEL #9. What do u guys think, want to get some opinions before i go out and buy a dist.

Thanks
mike

Yeah sounds like something that happend to me last year.
Symptoms sound the same.
It ended up that my distributor was seized (bearing inside) and caused the timing belt to jump. So in the end it was $400 CND for a rebuilt one/ exchange.

Take off the dist cap and see if ther is any arching or melted peices I have has this happen once or twice and it tured out to be the cap and/or rotor if there is a visible problem then its an easy cap and rotor fix ....
