EP3 or RSX-S (Trying To Decide Which to Get)
i have around 20k to work with so i mean i can go with either 1, but i was lookin at an 03' EP3 or an 03'/04' RSX-S
i kno the differences and i love both cars, took them both for a test drives and throughly enjoy them both. S far i can get the EP3 for 14k and the rsx for 19. granted the RSX-s comes with 40more hp i can make up for that with the 5000 i'll have left over after getting the EP3.
i just wanted to get some feedback from the owners from both vehicles. I know about the 2nd gear grind, and i've been researching for quite some time now, i just am not sure which 1 i'd prefer. just wanted to get some opinions...
Thanks,
Brian

Most people like the looks of the RSX over the
EP3. I liked the Si b/c even though it was 2
doors, it was still roomy and has plenty of
trunk space. If hauling ish is an issue, go with
the hatchback.
The Acura will be faster, probably have better
dealer service and will probably have better
resale value, too. Keep that in mind.
Personally, I'd go with the Si. It's sort of a
"sleeper" car in that not a lot of them are on
the road (it seems) and most think it's ugly/can't
be fast. Driving it is a blast and although there
are some minor issues with it, I'm very pleased
with mine so far (and this is coming from a former
WRX owner).

This is an easy one, if your looking for performance the RSX-s if faster from the get go, has a better tranny, better head, and is more responsive to modifications stock. If you buy an ep3, you gotta swap in some pistons and a rsx-s head if you wanna compete.
In a perfect world you could order the EP3, with the DC5 engine in it
I almost got the EP3, b/c I love the way they look lowered on 17"s. but ended up with the DC5-S, and have not regretted it yet....Its not about being faster than the EP3, the DC5 is faster with mods than a lot of other cars out there. Both are a hoot to drive.
Get the RSX, if a swap is in the future get the EP3
Good-Luck with your decision

EP3 has kick A$$ interior and handles great. With the model ending after this year, it's going to be a rare car and I would recommend EP3 over S. I mean how many EP3 do you see on the road compared to RSX? EP3 is just better buy, IMO.
i say get the EP even with all the pros you see with the rsx-s over the EP. there's just too many rsx's out there and not to offend our rsx homeys out there but, the rsx is beginning to seem like a chic's car.. dunno..
both motors have greats amount of potiential as you know, but with the 5K you save you can have a nice turbo kit and more for the EP which will walk all over stock rsx.. good luck with the decision man.. either way, i'm sure you won't be disappointed.

thanks a lot for the help people! and yea i agree with just about every statement made, especially about the rarely seeing Si's....i've only seen 1 and it looked like trash too because the guy got in a wreck and the whole drivers side was gone. and yes an engine swap is a possibility for the future
thats one good thing about having the 5k left, i have money left to put on the mods i want to be able to surpass the rsx, so i really think i'm gonna go with the ep3...i know i won't regret my decision! thanks a lot!
now all i have to do is find out what to spend the 5k on
any suggestions?
i would rather wait till later on to do an engine swap and just enjoy the ep3 for now
so a supercharger or a turbo would be a nice addition same with i/h/e and suspension but i wouln't mind having some good n/a power but how could i gain a lot of hp on the EP3 without forced induction?

If a swap is in the future don't waste the $$$ on forced induction. get your basics out of the way like you said. I/H/E, then get a good lowering package and some nice 17" wheels and you'll be tight. Then go fot that DC5R swap...and run 13.0s easy.
do not swap the K20A over the K20A2. it's awaste of $$$. The only thing that is worth it is the transmission (LSD and shorter FD).
IMO, get the RSX to begin with. Better car. If you don't have the money, then get the EP3. If you say money is no object, then you know what you should get. End of story. My gf has an EP3, I have the DC5. Hers looks badass, taffeta white, lowered on bronze 17s. I say go with what your budget allows, you will be spending a lot of $$$ to get to where the RSX-S is stock, but with a few simple boltons the K20A2 motor really wakes up.

I own an EP3 and it's a great car. I have very few complaints about the car and it's a blast to drive. I believe the only thing that the EP3 lacks in power is because of the cams. And with the money saved, you could get you a set of high performance cams giving you even better performance than the DC5 (along with many other performance upgrades).
good idea, but i didn't kno of any hi performance cams for the si....where do they sell them? and would i need anything else with the cams? or are they good by themselves? granted i will do other things without a doubt, i'm just saying do i have to have anything special for the cams to work right with the car

There are a lot less 02+ Si hatches on the road than RSX's, that's for sure.

Oh I agree, but rarity is a hard thing to have when you buy a mass-produced automobile. I would say that the ITR is rare, however the EP3 is far from being a special edition, low build number car.

All I have to say is that you will always like a certain style of a car. You can make any car fast import or not. But if you get a Type S there are many benefits to them. I have S and would not trade it for a EP3. The reason is because the the performance it gives you is worth it. It offers alot more you can do to it without having to get a motor swap. The motor gives you room to rev out alot more. The brakes are alot better. The only thing I don't like about the S is the Tires. They trully suck. I don't know why honda would put such a crappy tire on a better model car. just with hondata you can get alot of power with this car.
I'm with George on this one. I hate leather seats, and the EP's interior just looks so much better (BTW, you'll be inside the care more than outside, because it's a blast to drive). the looks of the EP grows on you quickly. it's solid and tight. it's got a lot of potential for what ever you want to do with it. and yeah, this is my third Si, so I am biased, but I am not disappointed in any way. yeah, I love my hatch.
My fiance bought an EP3, and we are both modding it with the IHE and dropping it on Teins. The EP is a great car, looks good, and the swap is relatively easy to do if you want to. I think we may go witht he JRSC in the future, but not yet. The EP wakes up so much to mods I must say. I know the Type S does as well, but in my 00 SI with bolt ons I could beat every Type S I raced. Save the extra cash for mods and get the EP.
I had an '02 Si(SiR here in Canada), and three weeks ago traded it in for an '04 Type S. I loved the EP3, and to it's plus's it had better seats, and was more practical (better cargo area, more useable back seat). I went with the Type S becuase it has the K20A2 without having to swap it (try to get Honda to warranty your swapped EP3), the lower center of gravity (feels better in AutoX), and IMHO, just comes across as more of a sportier car...
Cliffs notes having owned both:
Si - Pratical and fun
Type S - bigger performance smiles

I don't think you have met the right type s.
