Default Has the spoon sw388s lost its flair?

I noticed lately that there are lots of s388's for sale and desmond regamaster's. It seems like a while back everyone wanted those rims now everyone wants to sell them and doesn't seem like anyone is buying them. Is it because of the whole rota slipstreams coming out?

F! flair

I want to go fast with a lightweight wheel. That is why I bought my Desmonds/Spoons.

F show, show me your glowing rotors!

I didn't mean flair as flashy more like people wanting to buy them. I had a set of sw388's. I bought them for the light weight idea and the fact they look simple.

Actually,

Bronze Mugen MF10's are almost the same colour as brake dust. They're still bitch to clean though! Spoons only have 5 huge spokes to clean. With the Mugen's, get your toothbrush out...cause it's gonna take a while to clean.

I love my gunmetal Regas, but to be honest...

If the Rota deal would have came out before my purchase, I would have went that route. Think about it, for the price of 1 set of Regas, I could have bought two complete sets of Slipstreams WITH TIRES!

no, it hasn't lost its flair...there's just not many people willing to shell out that much money for wheels....

especially now since they can get rotas and use the other money for more performance mods...

personally, I'd never buy cheap wheels like that, you get what you pay for

So true, so true! I like my Spoons, yes they are everywhere but I use mine like they were designed to be used and that's all that matters.

People will definitely think twice before buying the SW388's. It don't matter, I prefer Mugen MF10's.

Default i think not

I have 2 sets of spoons and the next person who asks if they are real spoons will be shot....POW!!!!
hehehehehe
although i got them for a reason which is one set for race and one for street
however I am gettin a third for rain tires
any of you true Spoon wheel owners road race and have that blue faded look from the heat?
mine have begun to fade... i guess after a while the anodizing cant deal with extreme heat.
Im blaming it on the higher speeds run at Watkins Glen 130ish mph and then brake hard for the bus stop chicane
and then the back straights also

You normally get what you pay for these days in mod's. But whats bad most these people will buy rotas and only yr or so later they buy another set or something cracks. I had friend recently crack two wheels on some copy wheels..that look like JDM 16 inchers. He hit a small rock and it cracked all the way to the hub. Buy OEM JDM 16inchers and I've seen them take 1 and half foot drops easy over and over again. I think the only time I seen them break is when ITR jumped 3 feet over crest and cracked the front two. Yeah ITR that rally..there training cars in FL rally school atleast when I saw them. They also have Ford Focus for 2wheel drive rally cars. I found out some brand new CTRs are going right to rally duties in Europe right now..kinda like they use to do with older CTR models in Japan

Almight grey desmonds is still one of my favorite (and dream) wheels. The spoons...eh, I'm not a huge fan of the color, but they serve their purpose well...lightness and strength. If I had the money, I'd get a set of desmonds right now! Most of the desmond/spoon's I see FS are spoons. Less ppl selling their desmonds, at least from what I've been seeing. Tho, hit anything hard enough and it'll bend...forged or not. I've already seen a hand-full of volk te37's bent, a couple of ssr competition's bent, and an advan rg bent (tho, these are cast). I haven't seen any desmonds/spoons or mugen's bent yet.

Rotas are actually GOOD quality wheels. A friend of mine has some fake MF-8s from Rota, and he road-races and autoXs all the time, and they are still like new. Granted, Desmonds/Spoons might be stronger, but..... overkill anyone?

However, I would only get real ones.

just my two cents...sw388 is cool if you got thousands to spend...man whats up with three pairs of them? you must have alot of time and money on your hands...for someone on a budget and realistic driving conditions...400 bucks cant go wrong for a complete set of wheels with a similar look...some people just have tons of cash to toss around...
