need a change!
i have a 95 integra rs, auto, nonvtec, all of which suck *****, i love the damn car no matter how hard i try to get rid of the damn thing i just can't let go. so it's time for a change , iwould like to go to a five speed first more than anything, but not really sure of all the things i need for the change. next i would love to go to vtec, now i am somewhat familiar with what kind of things can and can't be be done with different blocks and i do know of ls/vtec conversions, and what block codes are what (i.e) ls,rs,se,= b18b, gsr=b18c, type r= b18c5,... now not to sound like someone who reads all types of books about these things, i did read somewhere about using a b16 head from a civic thats good and all but that head seems to be very hard to get and if you do find it, it price is crazy high. now i love the car but to pay anywhere from 1200 to 2200 for just a head thats crazy when you can pay a grand more and get the whole damn thing. well i'm married have a little girl and i can't just go out and through ducks, but i would really appreciate any help with the tranny change over, and one more thing i live on the east coast so things here aren't to easy to get, but any info well help thanks for anything.

you could swap it to a 5spd. do a search in the archived threads and you'll find what you need.
here are some of the thing's you'll need:
Manual pedal assembly
Shift linkage
Shifter
Clutch kit and flywheel
Clutch cable (91 and older)
Hydro lines (92+)
Clutch master + slave cylinders (92+)
Manual tranny bracket welded in (some models)
Manual tranny (of course)
Small amount of wiring for interlock and reverse lights

Well first off, anyone paying over $1000 for a VTEC head has completely lost their mind. A B16 head shouldn't cost more than about $500 (or less) for one in great shape. A manual transmission conversion will be expensive and time consuming. However, once you sort through a few basic details, it's not that hard. The biggest issue involves the mounting point on the passenger side: the one for an automatic sits differently. The last time I did this swap, we just cut the old mounting point off, resized it, and welded it back on in the correct place, so that the OEM manual transmission mount would fit properly. You will also need the pedal assembly from a manual transmission car, as well as the clutch fluid reservoir, hard lines, clutch, flywheel, shifter assembly, shift linkage, master and slave cylinders, and of course, the transmission. I think some of the aftermarket mount companies make a mount that will allow a manual transmission to bolt to an automatic mounting point, but I'm not sure, other than that, it's fairly straight forward. Also note that you should invest in a manual tranmission ECU, and the gauge cluster would be nice as well. You will also have to drill two holes to mount the shifter assembly.
