Default type S pistons valve pockets

My question is type s pistons has deeper valve pockets than regular JDM 10:6 C/R ones?

Valve RELIEFS? Yes, they do.

Higher compression pistons must have deeper valve reliefs to clear the valves.

make sure to check for valve to piston clearance also make sure to swap to the manual timing belt tensioner. the automatic one gets pissed and breaks when you mill the head.

I think the valve cutouts are the same between the various OEM honda pistons. The volume difference comes from the height of the center portion of the piston. I can probably dig up some pictures if that is not clear. We clayed a H22 milled .020 with type S pistons and there was plenty of room. .040 should be no problem.

Please post those pictures. How much compression you have now?

You can see that the center of the piston is raised on the Type S version:

The valve pockets are the same depth and diameter:

If you want some extra clearance to the valves you can enlarge them slightly:

I have posted a few times on calculating CR. A search should dig all that stuff up...
