Default Pics of my new header (graphic intensive)

Well, as some of you know, I didn't get my car back from the body shop. Now I'm not getting it till Monday. It's been 3 weeks this Friday. They said it would take 7 days, and now it's been 3 weeks? I'm really pissed. But what can I do?

Since I was all bummed out yesterday, I dedided to do somthing that I thought would cheer me up. I polished up my used JUN Header that I got recently. It took me a couple of hours but at least it got my mind off of my car. But I couldn't help but think when I was done, "now only if I had a *$*%#!* car to put it on!!!" . Anyway, here are some pics of it. I can't wait to install it. MMMMMMMmmmmm.....JUN. Pretty much the nicest header I've ever come in contact with.

That's the prettiest header I've ever seen. I'm in love.

Actually, I got real lucky. I have good friends. My friend Nick had a Yellow ITR with ALL JUN components in it (dynoed at 193whp without tuning cam gears). Anyway, he decided to buy a 93 Toyota MR2 Turbo (FAST) and sell the R. We took all of the JUN stuff off and I told him to hold onto the header for me cause I wanted to buy it from him.......eventually when I had the money. Well, the MR2 he found had a bad piston ring, but he got a hell of a price on it. So he asked me if I would help him rebuild his MR2 motor. I said "no problem", and we started the two week battle with the MR2. A lot of 4am mornings with work the next day. hehehe. Needless to say it was a lot of HARD work.

Well, a couple weeks after we were at the drag races and my DC header was scraping down the track because I forgot to raise my coilovers when I put my 14" slicks on. That was the last straw. I asked Nick how much he wanted for the JUN header and he said "Let me think about it". Again...I said "No problem, let me know". Later that night I realized he didn't give me a price, so I called him up. And I couldn't believe what he said to me. Here is what he said: "Well, I've thought about it and I figured I would just trade you straight across for your DC, kind of a payback for all of your hard work on the MR2". I was in awe. I'm really happy to have good friends like this. Just goes to show you, sometimes what goes around, comes around. heheheh. So the $900+ JUN header I got for "basically" $300. But it sure felt like free.

Yes, the header has a 2.5" collector. The primaries are huge and the welds are absolutely PERFECT.

Default Hey Dan!

Hey Dan,

Great story with a happy ending, well not quite but you will soon have it on your car! The header looks very nice, what did you end up using to polish it? Does the MR2 run like a champ now; those Yamaha engines are sweet but you wouldn’t catch me working in that 2” x 4” engine bay.

Marc: I ended up using Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish then cleaned it up using rubbing alcohol. It took a lot of elbow grease. Like I said, it took me 2 hours. I looked everywhere locally for WENOL, but no one carried it and I didn't feel like ordering it online and waiting (more over the waiting). There are still a couple stubborn stains, but the header looks almost brand new.

The MR2 runs great....when it runs. It's having a stalling problem right now. Everyone we talk to say that it's a problem with the Mass Airflow Sensor on the Intake piping. It's weird, it will drive perfect for over 20 minutes and then just die. We're going to fix it soon.....sigh. Yes, the MR2 is a TOTAL BI*CH to work on. You can't even pull an injector without removing the intake maniofld. heheheheh. I was thinking about buying one for a project car, but after working on one, I changed my mind. I'm getting an 88 CRX Si tonight. I picked it up for $2000. So while my car is in the shop, I can play with the CRX. Soon to be B16A CRX.....then eventually B16A CRX Turbo .

Thanks for all the compliments guys.

Very very shiney What did you use to polish up the header? When I polished my HiTech, I couldn't even get near to the results you got!

Tony: The Hi-Tech is a rough stainless steel isn't it? I mean, don't get me wrong, the it's the best of the best, but it doesn't come polished correct? My JUN was already pretty shiney, but it had bronzed and turned blue up near the head flange on the primaries. It also had some nasty oil stains on it. So I polished it up using Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish. It worked great, just took a lot of elbow grease.
