Default another possible noob ? from me

now i'm starting to feel like a dick. oh well. ok, i traded a brand new vafc + $15 to help out for shipping for a 96-97 spec jdm itr header. i was told it was a 4-2-1 design with a 2.5" collector. i was under the impression that an itr exhaust manifold on a jdm itr would be all tubular steel.

the header i got is two piece, cast iron top piece, tubular steel bottom piece. 2.5" outside diameter on the collector. the actual piping in the collector is 1 5/8". i was under the impression that a 2.5" collector meant that the piping was 2.5". please tell me if i'm wrong. thanks

btw, no flaming

You might have gotten exactly what you paid for.
The "tubular" JDM 4-1 is probably 98+.

96-97 JDM header is the same as the USDM 98-01 header, which is 2 piece and very small diameter wise.

You didn't get scammed, but you did buy "the wrong one" so to say.

No, a jdm 4-2-1 has a 2.5 in. collector and is from the 1996-97 JDM ITR.

I've never seen that it was that size anywhere. All documentation I've ever seen was that it was a 2in 4-2-1.

i know about the 98+ jdm itr header.

i knew i was buying the 96-97 spec header. i didn't have the cash for a 98+ jdm itr header. i was pretty much straight trading my new vafc for this header and cat. no way would anyone trade a 98-01 jdm itr header for a vafc. i know most people use the 98-01 header. that doesn't mean i "bought the wrong one." i had some bad header rattle from my stock piece, i had no cash, but had the vafc, and it was my ticket to eliminate the header rattle.

so let me ask this: is the 96-97 spec jdm itr header a two piece with a cast top piece?

Not according to him it isn't, Ed.

All taht I've read points to it being cast, smaller, and two piece, VERY similar to the 98+ usdm header.

I had the CTR/96 ITR spec 4-2-1. the collector is roughly 2.5"
He probably got the USDM stock header since he said it's 1_5/8"

Plus, he still seemed to be asking if it was supposed to be tubular, right/no?

Plus this "guy" is still asking about it being "tubular"? No?

Chris, the only question here seems to be about the 2 1/2" collector.
One out of XX isn't bad.
