Well I am gonna put together a turbo kit for my GSR. So I am selling some stuff to fund the parts buying. A guy offered a used Apexi BOV in part trade for my ITR cams so I researched it a little here to see what its worth and quality and such. Found the general opinion was its crap so I think I am going to use a BOV from a 1st gen DSM. Hoping to get it cheap at my local salvage yard. I know there is a link around here for $35 shipped some where but if I could get it with the pipe for a little less and not do an internet transaction that would be cool. From what I have read it is a quality piece and can't be beat for the money spent. So if your running one please post up your opinion.
1st question - I am looking for the BOV off a '94 or older turbo eclipse, talon, or laser correct?
2nd question - How can I tell the difference between the 1st gen and 2nd gen BOV? I read the 2nd gen is less desireable. Pics would be awesome.
Thanks, more questions to come.

1. yes 94 and older
2. the 1g DSM BOV is all metal and looks like a space ship(LOL)...the 2nd gen BOV is a cheap looking black plastic POS, when you see them you'll know which is which
this is what you want...

1st Answer - yes
The 1st gen is made of metal. The 2nd gen is made of plastic, and looks like it attaches with a hose clamp (and it does). The first gen will actually have a flange with two bolt holes in it, it's pretty evident.

Thanks for the quick responces. Extra thanks for the pics. Now I know what to look for. You guys running them? Comments?
not running mine yet(thats the one in the pic), but I've heard nothing but good things about them from people on here and many Eclipse/Talon guys so I have no doubts about it performing up to par with the more expensive brands.
as long as yoru gonna run under like 16ish psi that are dope.. more then that and you have to do the "crush" method which im not really sure about .. well worth the money

Been there done that. It will hold like 15-17 psi uncrushed. If you crush it then you can run way more then that like there are dsm guys runing like 25 psi on stock ones.

I don't plan to run over 8psi for a long time, so I am not worried about crushing mine. From what I have read you just put it in a vice or hit it with a 3lb hammer until the top squats down into the body.
