what grit to finish cylinder wall on a h22a4.
I just spent 5k rebuilding my h22a4. I talked to a few people, and all of them said that you can't just overbore those blocks. From what I have heard, the have some special coating on the cylinder walls, which means you have to have the block sleeved. Hope this helps. If I am wrong, please correct me, but this is what a bunch of people including honda techs have told me.
you know my machine shop has me gettting all the info for the build. my local honda dealer has most of the info, but the don't build motors. they just do head work like head gaskets etc.
I thought that it had to be sleeved also because of the frm lining. but i am using honda stock oversized pistons, which are 0.25 over. Apparently that is not alot to take off the walls. so I am having it done. Hey if honda sells them why shouldn't it be done. it seems that if if was not a good thing to do honda would not sell them.

The .25 overbore pistons are for if there's minor scratches in the cylinder walls, or if the block has high mileage and the walls have worn a good bit. When you hone, it takes some material so the .25's don't take much more to make them fit.
I remember seeing the procedure to hone, you use a certain oil and a relatively fine hone.
There's no prob. with honing the cylinders to fit the pistons, as long as he checks the piston to cylinder wall clearances.
