*NOOB* name this turbo, sorry no pic!
wasup all, well i am pretty new to this whole forced induction thing but i am getting more and more into it by the day... i have a turbo but dont know what it is and i have some minor questions that i need some answers too,,, 1) which turbo is this, mine is a garrett and the pn# is 465183-0008, it says .48ar on it and the inlet part is only like 2" or so big? can anyone help? , 2) this turbo is rusty, not to bad though but i would like to clean it, is it possible to take it apart and clean it ? not the actual turbo but the part the connects to the manifold and down pipe ? 3) it has three lines running out of it, i guess that means it is oil/water cooled.. but wich is wich ? i know one goes to a water source, one goes to the oil pan, and one goes to the back of the block? basically i am researching left and right and i am a noob and would like some help.............................................. ........ PLEASE? thanks
could be a t3 I dont know what kind it is. Yes you can buy a rebuild kit for it. The exhaust side of the turbo is going to rust no matter what. Its made out of cast iron. There should be 4 lines each line needs a way to get in and get out. what do you meen when you say which is which? are you asking which line is whick? try homemadeturbo.com they have alot of info on there.
Usually the Compressor side and exhaust side has numbers on them stating the A/R of the specified side. Now without a picture I couldnt tell you what type of wheel you have or anything....
Does it have an internal wastegate actuator on it?
Usually you can take off the housing on each side of the turbo, i.e. the compressor housing and exhuast housing, and clean them all.
You are right on the oil/watercooled part. Oil in/water in/oil out.....
If you can take a picture of it and send it to me I can post it for you....
Someone correct me if im wrong
But I do agree with the guy above about it being some kind of T3

yes it does have a internal wastegate, i want the tial 38mm is that east to take off the old and put on the new ? yes i thought it was a t3 im sure it's one of the smaller sized t3's , i am alittle concerened with the piping that came with this. it fits inside my aem cia ? little scary, about the turbo lines, yes wich one runs to the block witch runs to the oil sensor unit about the oil filter, and wich to a T in with my water ? also i am going with the vafc hack, yes i do want hondata but i have vafc already and i am a very poor college student so it will have to do, anyone with some info on that would be great...thanks for the replies its greatly appreciated
what does the turbine inlet look like? are 3 of the bolt holes in line and then one is sorta "off" to the side somewhat? are the housings held on by bolts or crush rings?
compressor housing outlet straight or angled?
with it being oil/water cooled...I'm thinking it's either going to be one of the following 2 beasts:
1. saab/volvo T03 from 80's/90's
2. dodge/crysler TE04H/TB03 from 80's/90's
