best/safest way to mount shoulder belts?
I was wondering if there was any saftey difference between mounting shoulder belts on a harness bar, floor mount, or any other method, and if anyone knows, please explain?
When you say harness bar, do you refer to the harness bar on a rollbar/cage? If so, that's the best method, as it gives the shortest straps (less stretching in event of accident) and a proper solid mount. Floor mounting is sort of frowned up, especially if you don't have a harness bar at all, as the angle of the straps is totally wrong. I've heard mixed things from mixed people about floor mounting if it's guided over the harness bar, but then why not just attach it directly to the bar? I don't think it'll come up, but I've seen some people attaching them to the B-pillar, and that's just entirely not safe.
And just to say it, no harnesses without a rollbar/cage.

Check the FAQ as well.

Tech inspectors didn't like the fact that I ran mine back to a lateral cage element between the rear strut towers (long) rather than wrapping them around the harness bar right behind the seat.
I asked the dealer and he sent me an email explaining what I thought I already knew - that the manufacturer (Willans) uses a low-stretch polypropolene material that is designed to be mounted the way I have them.
This will not be the case for other manufacturers.
