is there anything the tracks require(for saftey/tech inspection) for a sub 12 sec car besides a helmet? just curious i thought i heard somthing somwhere that somthin else was needed. dunno but this is the forum to ask

scatter shield, i think at least a 6 point cage, harness, can't think of anything else off hand, take a peak at the nhra rule book as a guide. i would think someone has it posted on the web.

 

Also rollcages approved for SCCA do not necessarily meet NIRA and NHRA rules.

It's actually a 6-point rollbar that is required. You may use a full cage also, but if the car is streetable, the bar will be better. Basically, take a 4 point bar and put forward braces on it as well 0- but check the NHRA book for the details because their rules differ significantly from SCCA.

 

You may want to look at the the driver gear as well...I can't remember when they start requiring you to use driving suits, I thought there is a requirement for a flame resistant jacket first. Then the full racing suit. Might want to look into that as well.

A 5pt bar is required, the door bar on the driver's side must pas between the elbow and shoulder of the driver. No door bar required on the passenger side. Scatter shield for the tranny. SFI Jacket for the driver. Helmet. Belts. Driveshaft loop if its got one.
