Default Boosting power on daily driver? Civic

Hi guys? I'm new here, and to all of this. Please bear with me.
I have a 2001 civic LX coupe. 1.7ltr. Not a VTech, that I just picked up. It's actually my first 4 cyl car. I'm used to much more HP, and this LoPo machine is driving me nuts on freeway on ramps ect.

Question: What's the best, quickest, and cheapest way to milk at least 10-20 hp out of this thing? I heard starting with the exhaust maybe.. I would prefer bolt-ons as opposed to any machine work.

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

First off it's spelled VTEC not VTech

Start with bolt-on's, intake, header, exhaust let the engine breathe a little better

Thanks CIVIC2, that's what I thought. As an ex old school muscle car head, I figured the basics would be about the same.

How would these modifications effect emissions testing? That's one thing I never had to worry about with musclecars.

VTEC... I knew that! LOL
