Boomerang Tracking available in California now
I know it's not ITR related but i post mainly on here anyway
Boomerang started out in Canada. It is like lojack where it tracks your car. I emailed them yesterday and they told me they are in the California market now (I was told that was the only state for now).
Based in Irvine, CA
Cost is $895 for installation (works with your existing lo-jack system I was told).
comes with 1 year monitoring service.
** Promotion: $200 off of their system if you remove your existing lo-jack transmitter
**
THere is another promition that will be at some Pomona car show soon as well...
then you can pay has much as $9.95/month to monitor your car (33 cents a day
) (you can pay unlimited monitoring as well for as long as you own your car.... details on their US site)
does not rely on police to find your car (they have their own team of trackers but the recovery fee is $199 but that is covered by your insurance company )

you can only get Boomerang.
Ask for boomerang2, its the improve version of what the first version a bit more expensive, but a lot more effective.

boomerang is stand alone. It's just another layer that you can add on top of your alarm, autolock, powerlock, club, whatever
boomerang2 is all they sell here in the US.

LoJack also has their early warning system where they'll page you or call you if your vehicle has been moved without the key in the ignition.
If can think of about 100 better ways of spending $1k. There is a tiny probablility that this unit will help you find you car intact if it is stolen - the much more likely chances are (1) you find a shell or (2) thieves remove the unit.

if your in socal stick with lojack which can be installed for about $500bucks. and get a boot....
and boomerang as far as i know uses phone satellites to track the car.... *** ever drive around and your cell phone cuts out???***
lojack is uses radio frequencies to find your car and is on 24/7
if your in law enforcement its the same thing as the red button on the radios... it sends out an exact location of where a downed officer is once he/she pushes it...........

Boomerang will be able to know that your car has been taken away before the thieves get too far. This can be said for the Lo-Jack Early Warning as well

so how do you get ur car back unless it's sitting there? if the cops don;t have the tracking, and you call them and tell them where it is I doubt they will drop their dougnuts and chase. Seems like a good idea.. but possibly to only recover your shell?

I'd rather get Boomerang than sorry-*** Lojack. At least with Boomerang you'll have people concerned enough about your car(besides you) to actually track it if it gets stolen. Lojack and it's radio frequencies don't mean **** if your local police department are unconcerned and won't track your car. Then on top of that you have to report the car stolen in order to initiate any recovery. At that point who knows how long your car had been missing.
I will definitely be looking into Boomerang Tracking.

Yes.. bommerangs peopel will supposedly be concerned with you car.. but either way they will have to go through the cops which would rather munch on their doughnut then chase the car.. at least with lojack the cops can see the car with bommerang they would have to tell the cops where to go which would be pointless if it was moving unless a cop heppend to be in the area.. I'm not ragging on boomerang just that it suffers the same issues lo-jack suffers.

$850 installed?? WOW that's alot. I live in Canada and I got Boomerang2 installed for $450 tax IN!! and that's Canadian funds. I pay $12 a month for monitering.
i guess it's different here in the US
I am sure people would rather know where their car is the minute it moves as opposed to finding out several hours, days or weeks later that it's gone
-aoib0t, who thanks for ITRBroham for taking care of this link.
the lo-jack by itself my not be handy but the early recovery option utilizes the same concept as boomerang and other tracking agencies.

Hey sounds interesting...... I still believe lo-jack is involved with the theft rings....

boomerang doesnt use phone sattelite it uses cellular cell sites and cell sites are all over the place. also we have a beacon that sends us a stronger signal to track your car as well
